Pusha T Says He "Constantly" Runs Into Liars In Rap
Pusha T has always valued his street cred. In fact, the Virginia rapper has been more vocal than ever in targeting peers he sees as less-than-genuine, something he elaborated on in a recent interview with Noisey.
Charts Don’t Lie: October 27
Nothing too big transpired on the charts this week when it comes to hip-hop. That's not to say there weren't hip-hop releases-- there most definitely were, however, none could top Drake's Nothing Was The Same at #4 on the Billboard 200. And if DJ Khaled's low sales projections are correct, Khaled probably won't top Drizzy either next week.
Charts Don't Lie: October 20
This week everyone's favorite dope boy Pusha T finally made his Charts debut, with My Name Is My Name. The album, which has been praised highly by most, managed a #4 debut, selling on the lower-end of the projected amount, with 75k. While it's solid numbers for a rapper who's been in the underground for most of his career, what does it say about those supporting 'real rap'? That there aren't that many?

This week's numbers are in, some more impressive than others. Pusha T's long-awaited debut, My Name Is My Name came in just under expectations, but still managed to put some "Numbers On The Boards" with 74,610 units, though unfortunately not enough to edge Drake out of the number 3 spot.

Pusha T's album is on course to sell 75-80k opening week, which hopefully will get him a spot in the top 10 of the Billboard 200. Danny Brown's Old dropped the same day as Pusha, but we don't have projections for that LP yet.

Although he’s been in the rap game since the early '90s, Pusha T had yet to release a studio solo album. Until now. As one-half of the Clipse with his brother (now) No Malice, Push saw his popularity rise with their hit single “Grindin.” Three albums and 16 years later, Push, real name Terrence Thornton and his brother parted ways musically to work on their solo careers.
