The Persona Tape
The time has arrived. After months of promotion, Houston trapper Maxo Kream decides to liberate his first project of the year with The Persona Tape.
Steak X Shrimp 2
With the help of DJ Drama and DJ Mr. Rogers, Le$ has come through with a fantastic sequel to his Steak x Shrimp mixtape, released a year ago. Steak x Shrimp 2 opens with an intro from Curren$y, who praises Le$' grind while sparking a joint, and from then on, it's a smooth ride that captures the best of Houston and New Orleans. The Jet Life affiliate was raised in N.O. but has been living in Houston for over a decade, and it's clear he's 100 percent H-Town certified.
Hear Sum Evil
Da Mafia 6ix
In their earliest days (think 1995's gritty, spine-tingling Mystic Stylez), Three 6 Mafia were known as some of the pioneers of a style of rap called horrorcore. Although the genre went on to spawn the entire, endlessly regrettable culture of Juggalos, horrorcore remains a genre largely untapped by most hip-hop entities. DJ Paul and his remaining posse, now going by Da Mafia 6ix, seem to be revisiting his former group's pre-Oscar-winning era with their new tape Hear Sum Evil.
BeatKing & Nephew Texas Boy
Just over a month after dropping 3 Weeks, his first official project on Sony RED, Houston Club God BeatKing is back with a joint mixtape with Nephew Texas Boy, Texlanta. The new tape brings together the sounds of two cities that have been influencing each other for many years, perhaps never more so than today.
M.I.B. (Making Independent Bread)
Paul Wall Feat. D-Boss
Paul Wall and D-Boss team up for a new mixtape, taking a cue from the film Men In Black, they've titled it M.I.B. and changed the acronym to something more rap-relevant: Making Independent Bread. We last heard from Paul Wall with his "OG Bobby Johnson" freestyle, which isn't featured on this project. The 11 tracks feature appearances from Young Dolph, Slim Thug and more.
Houston rapper DeLorean hasn't blessed us with a new mixtape since 2013's GRACE, which dropped in June of that year, but that changes today. Here's the rapper's new tape, entitled Look Alive, which arrived earlier this week.
