Blame it on self-employment, shady labels or a simple lack of knowledge about this country's impenetrable tax system-- rappers have historically had problems with unpaid taxes. Time and time again, we've seen stories of various artists in the game getting hit with either a tax lien or tax evasion charges from the IRS and owing the government a ton of their hard-earned money. As today's tax day, we're listing all of the rappers who've been popped for tax problems in recent memory. If we forgot any big ones, let us know.

Lauryn Hill still seems to have no plans for dropping a new album, but she has recently returned to performing live, which is a pretty good consolation. Her latest shows have just been announced as part of her "Small Axe Acoustic Performance Series," and the six dates will all take place in February 2015. Lauryn Hill Shows Up Late For Concert, Lectures Fan
The fans showed up for Miseducation and instead the were educated. That's the story of the recent Lauryn Hill concert portrayed in the video below. Beginning her 10:30pm set at 11:20pm, Hill was quickly called out by a disappointed fan and proceeded to lecture said attendee on respect. "If a little patience is too much, it's alright, you can go," said the former Fugee before having the fan removed by security.
Ladies Night: Dopest Videos By Female Rappers
"This is ladies night and our rhymes is tight, oh this is ladies night...," Missy Elliott sang on the 1997 hit track, "Ladies Night" that she collaborated on with Angie Martinez, Lil Kim, Left Eye and Da Brat. The song was featured on the "Nothing to Lose" soundtrack. Just as the MCs mentioned above occupied space and declared their reign on "Ladies Night", women rappers have been doing the same in Hip Hop culture ever since it was started in the Bronx.
Lauryn Hill Cancels London Show
In two days time, UK fans of the veteran singer were expecting her to perform at London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire. Ms. Hill, who recently did a few covers for the Nina Simone tribute album Nina Revisited….A Tribute To Nina Simone, has cancelled the show after apparently being unable to travel to London for legal reasons. When hip-hop began, samples were all that DJs and producers had to construct instrumental tracks with. They'd dig through crates of vinyl trying to find isolated drum breaks, melodies or vocals that they could repurpose for use in hip-hop music. Lauryn Hill, Jay-Z, & Timbaland Honored At ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards
ASCAP's 28th annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards Thursday night honored Lauryn Hill with the ASCAP Golden Note Award, and Jay-Z and Timbaland took home four songwriting trophies apiece. Past recipients of the Golden Note Award include Pharrell, Dr. Dre, Alicia Keys, Diddy, LL Cool J, Jermaine Dupri, Jay-Z, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, and Quincy Jones. Hill accepted the award in front of an industry crowd at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles.

Lauryn Hill's recent tax evasion problems have put a twist on her music career. While in court today, Lauryn Hill revealed she has a new record deal with Sony.
