Coach "Disciplines" 4 College Athletes For Rapping YG's Anti-Trump Song "FDT"
Rapping YG and Nipsey Hussle's "FDT (Fuck Donald Trump)" seems like the least someone could do in wake of Trump's ascent, but fans of University of Louisiana at Lafayette's football team are up in arms when a video of players doing just that was posted online.
Nipsey Hussle Announces "FLAUT" EP Dropping Next Week
For the past six months, Nipsey Hussle has made each of our Mondays a little more bearable with his weekly #MarathonMonday release series. In August, the series culminated in a new mixtape called Slauson Boy 2. Staff Picks Playlist (September 23)
It's late afternoon on the first Friday of the fall season, a few hours away from turn-up o'clock. Time to sink one's teeth into all the new bangers that've dropped over the past week. There are many on Ty Dolla $ign's new album, Campaign, which touched down last night, along with new projects from T.I., Mick Jenkins, and Audio Push.
Nipsey Hussle Advises Meek Mill & The Game To "Sit Down Like Men" & Squash Beef
The Game and Meek Mill have shown no signs of resolving their beef over the last few days, exchanging insults and diss tracks throughout the weekend. Drake, Beanie Sigel, and Sean Kingston, whose mugging in June is the event that sparked this whole disagreement, have all had some kind of involvement, but not many artists have swooped in to make peace between the rappers.Nipsey Hussle made the effort to advise the two rappers on Twitter yesterday, suggesting that they "sit down like men and express they differences."
Nipsey Hussle & Lauren London Welcomed Baby Boy Last Week
If there was ever doubt concerning the relationship of Nipsey Hussle and Lauren London, the two have now laid all that to rest. They've been a rumored couple for some time, although the two artists have been very tight-lipped about their relationship, thus leading to a wealth of speculation. Both Nipsey and Lauren stepped out of the shadows this afternoon to let fans know about a new addition to their family: a baby boy.
DJ Mustard Shares "Cold Summer" Tracklist, With YG, Young Thug, Meek Mill & More
Summer technically ends this month, but not for DJ Mustard. Some time during the month of September, Mustard will release a new project entitled Cold Summer. He announced the project and shared the cover art a week ago, and today, the chart-flooding producer has shared the Cold Summer tracklist.
Vote: Who Had The Best Project Of August 2016?
Summer is fast turning to autumn, vacation to school. Soon, the sun's oppressive reign will end and give way to increasingly temperate conditions. With August in the books, we look back at ten of the most notable hip hop and R&B albums and mixtapes of the month and ask our readers to decide which one they believe is the best. Pour one out for Noname's Telefone, which came out on July 31. Here are the ten:
#TBT: Young Nipsey Hussle
Nipsey Hussle's Slauson Boy Vol. 2 mixtape arrived two weeks ago and eleven years after his debut mixtape Slauson Boy Vol. 1. Now 31 years of age, Nipsey is no longer the swaggering Snoop Dogg disciple of yore.
Nipsey Hussle Shares "Victory Lap" #Proud2PayUBac Campaign Plans
It looks like Nipsey Hussle is finally gearing up to release Victory Lap, for real, for real. The rapper capped off his #MarathonMondays series with his Slauson Boy 2 compilation today, and used the opportunity to announce a brand new #Proud2Pay campaign centered around Victory Lap (although he doesn't say much in the way of album details, if that's what you're hoping for).
Top Tracks: July 25 - July 31
It's officially August, which means there's pretty much only one month of summer left. It's been a busy season for hip hop, as usual, with big projects from top-tier talents like Chance The Rapper, YG, ScHoolboy Q, and Gucci Mane dropping left and right, and plenty of additional tracks hitting the web as well. That being said, August is poised to be huge.
Pusha T Unveils New Anti-Trump, Pro-Hillary T-Shirt
For obvious reasons, much of the rap game has rallied against the GOP presidential nominee Donald J. Trump. Fewer have been vocal of their support of his opponent, Hillary Clinton, but Pusha T is looking to change that with the latest T-shirt he has put out via his Play Cloths clothing line. "Delete Your Account," reads the new anti-Trump, pro-Hillary T-shirt, showing a bobbling Twitter icon with an "X" in its left-hand corner.
The Best Hip Hop Songs (On Spotify) Of July 2016
HNHH recently launched a Spotify playlist called FIRE EMOJI: The Hottest Hip Hop Songs Right Now. The playlist is updated on a daily basis. It lives on Spotify and thus is inherently imperfect, because not all super-hot hip hop songs have been added to Spotify. Still, the playlist is generally representative of the best new releases in hip hop.
Staff Picks Playlist (July 22)
Happy Friday, people of the internet. The end of the (work) week has proved pretty fruitful. Desiigner finally unleashed "Timmy Turner" unto the world, and the world had a lot of shit to say about it. PARTYNEXTDOOR surprised fans late last night when he not only announced a release date for long-awaited P3, but dropped a new record, "Not Nice," which makes it onto this week's Staff Picks playlist.
Nipsey Hussle Posts Selfie During Arrest
Crenshaw rapper Nipsey Hussle claims to have been arrested earlier today. He was able to post a picture to his Instagram at some point around the time of the arrest, and he revealed to his followers that police had cuffed him but had forgotten to confiscate his phone, thus allowing him to snap a quick selfie. The nature of the arrest is still unknown, as are Nipsey's current whereabouts.
Staff Picks Playlist (July 15)
Things are still unsettling in terms of our social climate, and obviously yesterday's incident at Bastille Day out in France isn't helping, leading to social media's usage of the #prayfortheworld hashtag. However on the music front, we had a pretty thriving week.
Meet Sap: One Man Hip Hop Powerhouse
Just because Sap isn’t a household name doesn’t mean you haven’t listened to him on multiple occasions. The Delaware-raised producer has been putting together high-caliber production for some of your favorite rappers for quite a few years; Meek Mill, Mac Miler, Freddie Gibbs, Wiz Khalifa, and The Game are only a few of the emcees who have graced his instrumentals since he scored his first production credit in 2008.
The Best Hip Hop Songs (On Spotify) Of June 2016
ICYMI: HNHH recently launched a Spotify playlist called FIRE EMOJI: The Hottest Hip Hop Songs Right Now. The 40-track playlist is updated on a daily basis. It lives on Spotify and thus is inherently imperfect, because not all supa-hot hip hop songs have been added to Spotify (e.g. those recent ScHoolboy Q releases). Still, the playlist is generally representative of the best new releases in hip hop.
YG's "Still Brazy" (Review)
Two years ago, My Krazy Life surprised everyone. It was a debut album made by someone whose biggest claim to fame was novelty club smash "Toot It And Boot It," but somehow, it had the scope and consistency of a select few L.A. classics-- The Chronic, Doggystyle, and more recently, good kid, m.A.A.d city.
Top 5 Childish Gambino Collaborations
Childish Gambino isn't someone who often loads his projects with features, but over the course of his career he has made some special bonds with a couple of artists, as well as experimenting with other rappers' sounds on his ROYALTY mixtape. With news that his PHAROS album is on the way in September, we've decided to revisit some of the best work Gambino has done with other artists.
Staff Picks Playlist (June 17)
We ended the week on a high note, not only because of the music we received-- it's a good day for West Coast rap lovers, with new albums from YG and The Game-- but because we launched our latest digital cover story with Bompton's aforementioned YG. Suffice to say, we're pretty content about today. On top of all this, it's Friday. So yeah, doesn't get much better.
