In terms of the calendar, summer is winding down, but someone forgot to tell that to the rap game. We've only seen things heat up in the past week, with SremmLife 2 providing more than enough turn up fuel for the next few weeks, and P3 reminding us to squeeze every last bit of fun out of summer flings before cuffing season arrives.

The next two weeks will see new albums from two guys vying to be the third most popular rap/R&B artist out of Toronto, PartyNextDoor and Tory Lanez (Drake and The Weeknd are one and two, respectively). Only time will tell how P3 and I Told You will stack up against each other, but over the last few weeks, we've gotten a few previews in the form of singles and other assorted loosies. Both Party and Tory pop up in our Top Ten, although here it's obvious which one is dominant.

It's officially August, which means there's pretty much only one month of summer left. It's been a busy season for hip hop, as usual, with big projects from top-tier talents like Chance The Rapper, YG, ScHoolboy Q, and Gucci Mane dropping left and right, and plenty of additional tracks hitting the web as well. That being said, August is poised to be huge.

For ten out of the 24 weeks of 2016 we've experienced thus far, Drake has held the top spot in our Top 100 tracks list. Similar to the streak VIEWS is currently enjoying at the top of the Billboard charts, Drizzy's dominance in our metric of streaming-and-viewing success is pretty astounding, especially considering the mixed reaction his new album received.

Meek Mill has finally been let out of the house, and it's now time for him to start flooding the streets. It's not that his name has been absent from the game; he's managed to stay in the rotation with his "All the Way Up" remix with Fab and Jada, and earlier this month, he teamed with labelmates Wale and Rozay for "Make It Work," the latest single off MMG's upcoming Self Made 4 compilation.

Nicki Minaj Fires Back At Ex Boyfriend Safaree Samuels For Lawsuit Against Her May 11, 2016 at 03:34am
It appears Nicki Minaj is being sued by her ex-boyfriend Safaree “SB” Samuels, and she’s definitely not happy about it. Taking to twitter Tuesday night, Nicki went on quite the rant slamming SB after she was served legal papers just days after celebrating her current boyfriend, Meek Mill’s, 29th birthday. “Tweeted on the 5th that the 6th was my baby’s bday. Celebrated on the 6th for his bday (publicly). Served w/a lawsuit on the 9th. lol,” she tweeted.

Being on house arrest is bad enough, but spending your birthday stuck at home would be especially painful. Then again, if you're Meek Mill, you don't have to leave the house to party with Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross, meaning you can throw a better party than almost anyone despite your circumstances.

The Met Gala took place on Monday, and there seemed to be more rap and R&B artists in attendance than ever, even despite Rihanna's notable absence. Of course, both Future and Ciara were in attendance (but seemingly were able to avoid one another), while Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd and Kanye West all came through with memorable looks (Ye decided to go all out with the contacts).

Billboard has released their annual list of Top Money Makers in the music industry, and while it's largely dominated by pop stars and legacy rock bands, a few rap and R&B artists also made the cut. The list is determined by the money made from sales, streaming, publishing, and touring, so anything made outside of those categories does not qualify, which is why artists like Dr. Dre and Diddy, who are known primarily for their business ventures these days, were not included.

Though Beyonce's LEMONADE had the internet coming for Jay Z, he still has enough clout for everyone who showed up to DJ Khaled's opening slot on the FORMATION tour to pose for a photo with the New York legend, including Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, and Khaled himself (who's now being managed by the mogul). Outside of that, we saw Drake nimbly avoid an out of bounds ball at a recent NBA game, which promptly turned into its very own meme, as well as a series of selfies with the 6 Mom, Sandy Graham.

Ever since Nicki Minaj released Pink Friday in 2010, she has been one of the most unstoppable forces in the game. She's had 13 platinum singles as the lead artist and another 12 platinum singles as featured artist. She's pretty much in a league of her own.
Top 10 Hip Hop Tracks That Sample Prince
Top 10 Hip Hop Tracks That Sample Prince Apr 21, 2016 at 05:14pm
What would hip hop even look like if we lived in a world where Prince never existed? It'd be much less colorful and funky, I"m sure, and some of its most vibrant artists would never have had the courage to step out of the box were it not for one of the weirdest artists of all time. André 3000, Kanye West, Pharrell, The-Dream, and Young Thug (so basically, all of The Life Of Pablo's squad) in particular have Prince to thank for some, if not most, of their musical and/or fashion styles, and the rest of the rap game isn't far off either.
