In a rap world saturated with thousands of rappers quick to share exaggerated stories of connections to every big name star and tell you they're the next to blow, it's difficult to know who really is who they say they are. For Los Angeles native Christopher Manson, the connections are real and the future is quite bright. The rapper -- known simply as Manson -- was raised in the area around the Normandie and King intersection of the notorious streets of South Central LA and has seen his name gain acclaim among many of today's biggest and rising stars.
Rapping since the age of 17, the 24-year-old MC has been building a buzz in the Los Angeles underground for years alongside names like Roccett, Glasses Malone, Big Wy, Spitfiya, Xzibit, Strong Arm Steady and many more. His unique style and voice have lead to credits that include prominent appearances on various well-known mixtapes/street albums, including 3 with Unsigned Hype alum and CTE West signee Roccett (West Coast Most Wanted, West In Full, Green Up & Hustlin; Hard Vol.1) as well as a "Green Up Mixtape" with Strong Arm Steady, who are signed to Talib Kweli's Blacksmith label.
His resume also includes ties across the nation, from Atlanta (Young Jeezy, Slick Pulla, Blood Raw & Baby D) to his hometown LA (Actress/Rapper Tawny Dahl, Dynamic Certified, Scipio). He's currently working on his first solo project "Bacc 2 Bizness," an all original CD set to feature about 14 songs and scheduled for a late 2007 release. Production will be handled by West Coast beat notables Dae One, Dem Jointz and Klassic, and features will include Roccett, Spitfiya (Maloof/Interscope) and many more to be named. A big name West Coast DJ is in talks to possibly host the mixtape, and Manson is excited about its release.
"I would say this CD is going to be a great representation of me," he says with confidence. "I got a few big things in the works, so just look for me to definitely be pushing it everywhere, from the streets to online.
