Happy Memorial Day. The past week has been a wild one, what with the chaos at T.I.’s NYC show, Gucci Mane’s release from prison, and a new Kevin Gates tape. Summer’s officially here, so expect things to keep picking up in the rap game— we’ve got a ScHoolboy Q album, SremmLife 2, and a bunch of other heat on the way. On the top tracks side of things, there was quite a bit of turnover in our list this week, with only the bottom and top tracks from the last edition making return appearances.
Lil Wayne Says "F*ck The Birdman," Shares Plans For Two New Albums
While it briefly looked like Lil Wayne and Birdman were on pace to settle their differences, Wayne's recent comments at live shows suggest that things between him and his label are as bad as ever.
A Recent History Of The Post-Prison Comeback Track
Yesterday was a truly bizarre day in hip-hop. It started with news of a shooting at a T.I. concert the night before in New York, and reports soon connected to the incident to Troy Ave, as the NYPD caught footage of the Brooklyn rapper opening fire in a VIP green room. That footage was released to the public, and Troy has since been arrested on charges of attempted murder, among others. Ultimately, though, it was a joyous day, made possible by the surprise return of Gucci Mane, who had been locked up in an Indiana penitentiary for almost three years.
T-Pain Recalls Lil Wayne & Birdman's Insane Bets On Simulated Madden Games
As we've seen from many of his interviews, T-Pain is a hilarious dude who knows how to tell a story, and there's probably no one better to reveal Lil Wayne and Birdman's ridiculous gambling practices to the world. While Pain was participating in a Twitch live stream as he played Doom earlier this week, he decided to share a hilarious anecdote from his time spent recording with Wayne. According to the singer, Weezy and Birdman (who were on good terms at the time), would bet $10,000 on video game matches in Madden. If that's not insane enough -- they weren't even playing!
Lil Wayne & Birdman Call Off Settlement Talks
The Lil Wayne x Birdman saga continues. Just a day after footage surfaced of Lil Wayne leading a chant at Denver’s 4/20 rally saying “Fuck Cash Money,” more news has come to light.
Beast Mode: 6 Crazy Mixtape & Album Runs
These days, the line between mixtape and album is thinner than ever, and fans are fairly entitled when it comes to new music. As a result, we're seeing more and more projects being released in a shorter time frame, but there are only a select few who can impress both in terms of quantity and quality. The "run" is something a few artists have been praised for. It's generally a series of projects that mark an important creative spurt for an artist, and one that often creates something of a spectacle. With that being said, some "runs" get a lot of publicity, while some fly under the radar.
Top Tracks: May 16 - May 22
This past week, we were finally able to take a deep breath and reflect on all of the major projects we've heard in the past month -- A$AP Ferg, Bankroll Mafia, Beyoncé, Drake, Skepta, Rittz, Chance The Rapper, and Post Malone have all dropped full-lengths in that relatively brief timespan. It would appear that the summer's first burst of high-profile albums has subsided, but as we await projects from Travi$ Scott, YG, ScHoolboy Q, and others, at least guys like The Underachievers and Casey Veggies have given us something new to chew on.
Lil Wayne Yells "Fuck Cash Money" During Performance
In case you thought Lil Wayne had moved on from his beef with Birdman and Cash Money, think again. Weezy took the liberty of cursing out the label while headlining the 420 Rally in Denver. In fan footage posted to YouTube on Sunday (watch below), the rapper is seen clearly inviting the crowd to join him in a call-and-response chant of "Fuck the bullshit... fuck Cash Money."

Rack City: 10 Hip Hop Sex Tape Scandals
Rappers are quick to document their sexual conquests in their lyrics. It should not come as any surprise that many of them also document their sexual conquests on camera. Titans of hip hop like Lil Wayne, Kanye West, and Tupac have all fell victim to the (threatened or actual) publication of their private sex tapes. As have many others. Even in the case of rumored sex tapes, the sheer possibility that a tape exists often obscures the fact that it likely does not. Check out 10 of hip hop's most epic sex tape scandals after the jump.

It is a well-known fact that Curren$y's drug choice of is marijuana. He leaves the lean to the "lean professionals," like Lil Wayne. But sometimes, you drink lean by accident. During his appearance on N.O.R.E.’s Drink Champs podcast, Curren$y told the story of the time of he accidentally drank way too much lean on Lil Wayne's tour bus.
10 Joint Projects That May Or May Not Come Out
For every Watch the Throne or What a Time to Be Alive, there are scores of joint hip hop projects borne of one epic late night in the studio that never crystallize into a fully formed release. As fans, we should know better than to let these glimmers of collaborative greatness get our hopes up. But the possibilities are too great to ignore.
Top Tracks: May 9 - May 15
In contrast with the first few months of 2015, when it seemed like our Top Tracks lists were just the same Kanye and Drake tracks rising and falling with each ensuing week, the past few editions have been utter chaos, with the #1 spot changing every week. Staying power is proving difficult to achieve in an increasingly crowded summer playing field-- Beyoncé and Birdman's chart-toppers from two and one week ago, respectively, are nowhere to be found this week, although a few of the lower-ranking tracks stuck it out.
5 Great Lil Wayne Features From The Last Year
Lil Wayne's guest appearance on Chance The Rapper's "No Problem" reminded us of everything we love about Weezy, and inspired us to go back through some of his more recent features. While some flew under the radar more than others, Wayne has had a solid run of guest appearances over the last year, so we assembled a few of our favorite 16s (and beyond) from the last 12 months.
Every Rap And R&B Album That Sold 1 Million Units In A Week
Drake's VIEWS became the most recent album to achieve the rare feat of selling 1 million copies in one week, an accomplishment it shares with only 20 other albums (recorded by Neilsen Soundscan), and even fewer hip-hop releases. Today, we've decided to look back at the small selection of rap and R&B that has reached this milestone.
Skepta Confirms Drake Is Actually Signed To BBK
Back in February, we reported on the somewhat confounding news that Drake had signed to Skepta's BBK (Boy Better Know) imprint. The news was announced by Drake himself, via an Instagram post, where he referred to himself as the first Canadian to sign to BBK. The details surrounding his deal were unclear, and how/if it would effect his current situation with Young Money. Some speculated that he didn't actually sign to BBK.

2 Chainz and Lil Wayne's ColleGrove has been one of the year's most enjoyable projects, and a few of its tracks should continue to blow up and dominate the summer.
Everything We Learned From Birdman's HOT 97 Interview
We've seen a lot of controversy spawn out of Breakfast Club interviews, but somehow, Birdman was able to give the most talked about interview in the show's history, and he was there for under two minutes. The short conversation, which found Baby confronting Charlamagne and his co-hosts for their lack of "respeck," has inspired countless memes, and has given Birdman the foundation for both a song and line of merchandise indebted to his new catchphrases.
Top Tracks: April 25 - May 1
We've officially entered the whirlwind release period of 2016, with hip hop's (arguably) biggest current male and female stars, Drake and Beyoncé, both dropping projects in the past ten days. What's more, Chance 3 should be dropping any moment now.
