Lil Wayne Recalls The Amount Jay Z Offered Him To Sign: "We Laugh About That All The Time"
Lil Wayne was vocal about his discussions with Jay Z leading up to the release of Tha Carter II in 2005, and while he's never gone into details about the offer, the Young Money rapper decided to tell the story of his conversation with Hov while on DJ Drama's radio show.
I Got You, Fam: 10 Rapper-Athlete Bromances
The elite class of athletes and musicians share much in common -- wealth, fame, a central role in popular culture. So it should not come as a surprise that there is, generally speaking, a great mutual respect between rappers and athletes. Sometimes this respect engenders friendship. Sometimes it engenders rappers and athletes throwing each other alley-oops... on and off the court.

Tonight's Jazz/Lakers game will mark the end of an era as the door closes on one of the most dominant careers in NBA history. In the 20 years Kobe Bryant's been in the league, he's shattered records, led some of the strongest squads of the 21st Century, and won five championships, making it clear that he'll be voted into the Hall Of Fame as soon as humanly possible. Before he takes the court for his 1,565th and final game, we're taking a look back on the influence his career's had on the rap game by weighing it against that of one of his heirs apparent, Golden State's Steph Curry.
Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz Can't Wait For You To Hear Their Havoc-Produced Track, "Bars"
On the first part of he and 2 Chainz' interview with Genius, Lil Wayne revealed that he was brought to tears when he first heard Chainz' verses on CollegeGrove opening track, "Dedication," and part two features some equally interesting anecdotes. After talking about how Tity's "I kiss ya lady, eat her pussy, then kiss the baby" bar on "Bounce" actually caused him to fall to the ground, Wayne spoke of an unrelease track called "Bars" that seems like it will continue in the rappin'-ass-rappin' tradition of "Bounce".
Lil Wayne Admits He Cried Upon Hearing 2 Chainz' "Dedication"
"Dedication," the opener on ColleGrove, is a solo 2 Chainz track, and it's a tribute to Lil Wayne, who would go on to feature on 8 of the album's remaining 11 songs. "If it wasn't for Wayne it wouldn't be / A lot of dudes in the game, including me," Chainz begins the song, before going on to detail his early experiences being around Wayne, who brought him into his circle with open arms and encouraged him to pursue his dreams.
Lil Wayne Doesn’t Think Anyone Is Trying To Be The Best Rapper Alive Anymore
Lil Wayne once called himself the “best rapper alive,” and with good reason. His output combined with the quality of his rhymes for a few years was unparalleled to this day. However, Lil Wayne doesn’t think anyone is even trying to reach that level of lyrical focus, let alone getting anywhere close to it.

Brace yourself: Dedication 6 is coming.
Staff Picks Playlist (April 1)
This week has proved to be pretty eventful when it comes to song releases. There was actually a lot to choose from when it came time to compile our weekly Staff Picks playlist, and we're expecting the commenters to call us out on any and all oversights. There were Drake leaks. There was a Weeknd remix of Bryson Tiller. There was a G-Eazy remix. There was a 50 Cent remix. There was a Lil Wayne remix. There was a Wavy Wednesday cut. There was a Lupe Fiasco freestyle. That's just the tip of the iceberg.
Lil Wayne Sues Universal Music Group For Unpaid Royalties On Drake, Nicki Minaj & Tyga
Lil Wayne has been on the receiving end of several lawsuits over the past couple years, but this time around the tables are being turned. Reports are surfacing all over the web tonight that Lil Wayne is suing Universal Music Group for royalties he’s apparently owed for profits gained by Drake, Nicki Minaj, & Tyga.
Top Tracks: March 21 - 27
The top tracks lists of the last few weeks got a little stale, with some songs (Drake's "Summer Sixteen," Travi$ Scott's "Uber Everywhere" remix, Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz's "Gotta Lotta") appearing week after week without much in the way of competition showing up to unseat them. Well, that changes this week, where the top nine tracks on the site are all newcomers.

Top Tracks: March 14 - 20
Last week was definitely dominated by SXSW, with most of the rap world seeming like they were down in Austin either to perform, kick it with some of their equals in the game, or announce mixtapes in creative ways.
Mannie Fresh Explains Healing Lil Wayne & Birdman's Conflict With "Hate" Collab
After a hostile $51 million feud that spanned the entirety of last year, Lil Wayne and Birdman were spotted at the same party on New Year's Eve. Then, they were both seen in the studio with Yo Gotti, and then, at the end of February, they were heard on the same track, "Hate," which also features Juvenile and is produced by Mannie Fresh -- the whole Hot Boys lineup, aside from B.G. and Turk.
Charts Don't Lie: March 16
With a couple of debuts in the top 5, it was a great week for hip-hop on the Billboard 200. Kendrick Lamar gets crowned with the No. 1 spot with his surprise album, untitled unmastered., a compilation of eight tracks that didn't quite fit onto To Pimp a Butterfly. Despite zero promotion, it's still the top-selling hip-hop album of 2016, though it didn't have to compete with the TIDAL-only release of The Life of Pablo.
Kendrick Lamar Calls Lil Wayne "The Greatest"; Weezy Responds
Kendrick Lamar recently sat down with The Coveteur while out in Manchester, England for an in-depth interview about his new deal with Reebok, fashion, style, and how the youth are shaping the culture. But it was his comments about Lil Wayne, that not only caught the internet’s attention, but the YMCMB boss man himself.
Lil Wayne Sued For Failing To Pay Lawyer $300,000
Just when Lil Wayne seemed to be righting his often capsized ship, a story like this one comes out. According to the NY Daily News, Lil Wane owes one of his lawyers just shy of $300,000. That isn’t an insurmountable sum for Lil Wayne, but its enough for the Michael B. Kramer to file a lawsuit against his former client for failing to pay up.
Top Tracks: March 7 - March 13
After the excitement of new projects from Kevin Gates, Future, Young Thug, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, French Montana, and Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz, we seem to have hit a bit of a lull three months into 2016. Views From The 6 is (hopefully) in sight for April, and A$AP Ferg and ILoveMakonnen both should have new material out in the next few weeks, but March is definitely looking like a down month for hip hop's upper echelon.
Kendrick Lamar's "Untitled Unmastered" Goes No. 1
Kendrick Lamar's surprise compilation album untitled unmastered. tops this week's Billboard 200 chart. According to Nielsen Music, the album moved 178,000 equivalent album units (and 142,000 pure album sales) for the week ending March 10. With this week's top spot, Kendrick Lamar has earned two No. 1 albums in the past year, following To Pimp a Butterfly, released on March 15, 2015.
