Louisiana’s Creole Prince McKelly LaJaunski Thomas professionally known as La’Jaunski has taken his next step toward royalty. His new single Like Dat rocketed to the Top 10 the first week it was released on KAZI 88.7 FM and has continued to climb the charts. In December 2012, he was nominated for two award categories Best R&B Radio Song and Best R&B Male in Austin, Texas. He is also the newest member and the first R&B Artist of Da Kickdoor Banditz and Kickdoor Records. The R&B singer-songwriter’s smooth, distinctive sound, creative lyrics, authentic style and swagger appeals to a diverse audience. In 2004, his astonishing performance of an acappella rendition of Usher's "Burn"; blew away judges Bun B of UGK and Letoya Luckett at the KBXX /97.9 The Box's, Hatta's Idol competition in Houston, Texas.
McKelly was born in Opelousas, Louisiana and raised in the small country town of Ville Platte, Louisiana. He grew up in a Christian household with his two sisters and single mother. His love for music began at an early age while singing in the local church choir. Musical influences such as: Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson, Baby face, R. Kelly, Joe, and Donell Jones inspired him to pursue a career in music. In 1999, La’Jaunski moved to Houston, Texas to further his music career, later joining a variety of singing groups maintaining the position as lead singer. In 2004, he received an unexpected offer from a local music producer and songwriter in Ville Platte, Louisiana which lead to the recording of his first solo album.
La’Jaunski relocated to Austin, Texas in 2006, bringing a new style and sound to the Austin’s Live Music scene. On March 3, 2010, his first single titled Material Things produced by Kris Keyz, written and arranged by the Creole Prince himself was released on KAZI/ 88.7 FM Radio in Austin, Texas and a week later released on KVPI/92.5 FM Radio in Ville Platte, Louisiana. On January 16, 2012, La’Jaunski was headliner at Huston-Tillotson University’s Martin Luther King Day Celebration in Austin, Texas. He has remained a consistent performer at local bars and nite clubs like Headhunters, Kick Butt Coffee, Jet Lounge and a wide variety of Live Music venues in Texas. His new album “Mama’s Boy” features music by producers Mr. Gottis Gottem, Moe Ager, Akon, Producer KR, and Kris Keyz and is scheduled to be released in December 2013.
