The artist known as Koran was born in the decade he likes to refer to as “The Last Years of the Greats”. The late 80’s. Born and raised in the south oddly enough his music reflects a different sound. Koran’s music consists of more melodic and instrument oriented sounds rather than the usual trunk bangers of most southern artist. His verses are loaded with lyrical assaults to instrumentals, and witty as an on duty comedian. Koran often prefers to be listed as a Hip-Hop Artist rather than a “rapper”. He believes and I quote” Anyone can be a rapper, anyone can rap. It is nothing to put a verse together and get in a booth and spit over a beat. But to be an artist is something different, it is taking time with the music, putting actual thought into to what you’re saying, and selling to your listeners “. Koran’s overall goal is to not deceive his fans or in his words his “world-wide friends”, but to enlighten them, uplift them, and guide them. Koran wants the worlds to know that his people are children of royalty and not slaves to no one. In the past year, Koran has released two projects with a third on the way. His Debut Mixtape (Natural Selection Vol.1) was a short but sweet compilation of Koran’s various sounds, It was for seen as a classic by some of his peers, and a great listen by others. Seven months following N.S release Koran was featured on a group collaboration Mixtape “R.N.S- Real. N*gguh. Society” also featuring S-Dub, Falshioen, and Cap all members of R.N.S and label mates of JBB MG. Koran’s debut Album “Free Spirit” is slated to be released Dec. 3 2012. The album is a complete and authentic piece of Koran’s soul and message to his people and fans. The album will be released under the JBB MG Imprint and Elevated ENT (Elevated Scott). Koran is currently the president of JBB MG( Just Be Bold Music Group) , founded by CEO Bruno Ruffin.
