Stream King Chip's New "CleveLAfornia" Album
A couple of days ago, we shared King Chip's "Fat Raps 3," featuring Big Sean, Curren$y, Chuck Inglish, and Earlly Mac. The same lineup, minus Mac, appeared on the original "Fat Raps," which dropped six years ago. "Fat Raps 3" appears on Chip's new album, CleveLAfornia, which was originally only available on Amazon but can now be streamed below, via Spotify.
Staff Picks (September 4)
It's that time of the week again. On Friday we round up the HNHH staff's favorite releases from the past week, and compile them in a no-skips-necessary playlist. We had a few notable releases this week, namely Travi$ Scott's Rodeo, Rick Ross' Black Dollar and K Camp's Only Way Is Up. However we also received new projects from Rich The Kid, TeeCee4800 and Scarface-- just the range in these artists means there's a little something for every rap fan.
Underrated Audio: September 13 - September 19
Underrated Audio aims to provide you with some dope looks from the last seven days that flew under most peoples' radars. While they may have received front-page placement on HNHH, they didn't get as many views as they deserve, so we shine a little more light on them right here.
Samples Of The Week: July 17
When hip-hop began, samples were all that DJs and producers had to construct instrumental tracks with. They'd dig through crates of vinyl trying to find isolated drum breaks, melodies or vocals that they could repurpose for use in hip-hop music. Today, sampling has become less common, but a choice sample can still push a track from lukewarm to hot faster than you can say "uh-huh honey".
Underrated Audio: July 5- July 11
Underrated Audio aims to provide you with some dope looks from the last seven days, that flew under most peoples' radars. While they may have received front-page placement on HNHH, they didn't get as many views as they deserve, so we shine a little more light on them right here. After going on a brief break over the 4th of July weekend, we're back this week giving you five looks that deserve a second look. Among them, Rome Fortune teamed up with Childish Major for a low-key ode to night time fun, Nikko Lafre gets on his story-telling tip, King Chip is lazy, and more.
Underrated Audio: April 19-25
Underrated Audio aims to provide you with some dope looks from the last seven days, that flew under most peoples' radars. While they may have received front-page placement on HNHH, they didn't get as many views as they deserve, so we shine a little more light on them right here. This week we've highlighted four different records, from four different slept-on MCs. One is Canadian, while the rest reside in the U.S. Each have a big project on the way, so you should definitely be keeping your eyes on these dudes: Snak The Ripper, Rome Fortune, King Chip and ZMoney.
Underrated Audio: January 4- January 10
We're offering you a chance to grab the records that flew under the radar these last seven days with the weekly Underrated Audio. We scope out the records that received less views than they deserved, and give them a few more looks here. This week we round up tracks from rising rapper Da$h, Cleveland/LA native King Chip, a newcomer Nile Ross and more.
Underrated Audio: December 21- December 27
Although it is the holidays, rappers never stop putting in work. Rappers love to release shit on holidays specifically, and this year was no different. Quite a few artists came through with big records in the spirit of Xmas, but there were also some smaller gems which we're shining light on in Underrated Audio. Have a look through to see what you may have missed in the past seven days.
Talking To Logic & C-Sick On "Two Kings"
Logic was quietly grinding in his hometown of Maryland for some time, releasing tape after tape, before he hit it big and signed a deal with Def Jam. His story is similar to that of many rappers: an absentee father, a mother with a drug addiction, and a high school drop out. However, Logic is not your average rapper.
Underrated Audio: August 31- September 6, 2013
After a hiatus last week, Underrated Audio returns today to bring you several overlooked records that dropped in the past seven days. We've had an influx of mixtapes recently, which have provided us with most of these tracks-- no Lil Wayne on this feature though. Take a look through the tracks and let us know what your favorite underrated cut was this past week.
Underrated Audio: June 4-10
With the hectic-ness that was HOT 97's Summer Jam UA was missing from the site last week. Nonetheless, today we return in full force looking back at tracks that were posted within the past fourteen days instead of seven, because as usual, more than a few dope cuts have gone overlooked. From the still-slept-on song-maker The-Dream, to rising New York rapper Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire, we've got both r'n'b and hip-hop covered on today's six picks.
Underrated Audio: March 26-April 1
The first week of April has arrived, and along with it came a few jams from some of the usual suspects: King Chip, Action Bronson, Young Roddy and Travi$ Scott. These four are no strangers to Underrated Audio, but soon one or two of them may get too big for the UA circuit and move on up to Top Tracks of the Week. Namely, Travi$ Scott, who almost reached 24,000 views on his Wale-featured "Quintana." If he continues down the route of good features and dope beats, he'll definitely be raking in larger views soon enough.
Underrated Audio: March 12-18
As we near the end of March we've been getting more good-ass music coming in each and every week. This past week we saw the underground circuit drop several dope tracks (from King Chip to the Flatbush Zombies), and we've rounded the best five cuts for you to check out here. Randomly enough, it seems to be a strictly East Coast/Midwest affair on UA this week, with Detroit, Chicago, New Jersey, New York and Cleveland all represented.
Underrated Audio: February 19-26
It seems like good music has been slow lately. Although we're still being bombarded with content on the daily, it seems like you have to wade through a lot to find the gems. Don't worry though, 'cause we've found the gems from the past week for you already. Check out cuts from Joey Bada$$, Logic and more that you might have overlooked. If you're feeling like it's more of a mainstream-kinda-day, check out our new series for Top Tracks of the Week.
