Verse Simmonds Feat. Kid Ink
Tha Alumni's next heavy-hitter is ATL-based singer Verse Simmonds, who has written songs for top artists like Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, and Kanye West. His strength as an artist is his ability to understand both the new and enduring sounds in R&B, and fusing them in a seamless way. It hasn't been surprising to see him thrive in the island-inspired wave that dominated the summer, as Simmonds was raised in St. Thomas and has been a longtime student of reggae and calypso.
Gift Wrap (3 Verses)
Kid Ink Feat. Verse Simmonds
"Gift Wrap" was one of the most memorable moments on Kid Ink's new mixtape, RSS2, featuring an extremely catchy hook from the incredibly underrated Verse Simmonds. As strong as it once, Kid Ink has shared a new version of the song which features a closing verse from his collaborator, and just as he did on the hook, he brings his A-game.
In My Way
Kid Ink Feat. Mozzy, Bricc Baby & Nef The Pharaoh
Kid Ink is going back to his mixtape roots on his new project, RSS 2, the sequel to 2012's RocketShipShawty. The project dropped today, and finds the Cali rapper collaborating with quite a few rising West Coast rappers, particularly on "In My Way," which features Mozzy, Bricc Baby, and Nef The Pharaoh. While all exciting new voices with their own distinct styles, Nef The Pharaoh is the standout guest with an opening verse that proves the obsession with Cash Money he asserted with "Big Tymin."
Kid Ink has scored some serious hits that embrace the melodic side of West Coast rap, but his new release, "One Day," finds him playing off of traditional R&B sounds while bringing a more modern rap-driven performance on his verses. A sample-like vocoder-driven hook adds a hint of nostalgia to the track, while Ink navigates the low-BPM, 90s channeling instrumental with some intimate personal reflections.
Die In It
Murda Beatz is definitely out here tryna claim the title of Producer MVP, something which had been unanimously given to Metro Boomin since his hot streak started in 2015. Will Murda have that locked down by the end of 2016?
Your Number (Remix)
Ayo Jay Feat. Chris Brown & Kid Ink
Ayo Jay might be the Nigerian artist best poised to attain international popularity, other than WizKid. He first moved to the United States to pursue a degree in finance at New York's Baruch College. He recently inked a deal with RCA and re-released his infectious, upbeat Afrobeat lovesong "Your Number" as a single. Now, as Ayo Jay prepares to properly enter the American market, the single gets a remix from Chris Brown and Kid Ink.
Look What U Made Me Do
Hardhead Feat. Kid Ink & Bricc Baby
It’s been a minute since we last heard from Batgang Crew member Hardhead. In fact, the last time the West Coast spitter impacted our front page was for his feature on Kid Ink’s Cardiak-produced song “I Been” which dropped back in November of last year.
Kid Ink went into commercial mode on us momentarily when he dropped off his "Nasty" single with Jeremih back in May, but now he's in mixtape mode. The rapper announced that he's working on Rocketshipshawty 2, which has always been a fan favorite, so we're sure the Kid Ink stans will have no complaints about this.
Kid Ink Feat. Verse Simmonds
Kid Ink is taking fans back real quick to one of the mixtapes that propelled his career into mainstream sight, Rocketshipshawty, with a second instalment of the project in the works.
Kid Ink Feat. Jeremih & Spice
Keeping his word, Kid Ink comes through tonight and releases his new record on iTunes called “Nasty” featuring Chicago's Jeremih & Spice.
F It Up
Bricc Baby Feat. 21 Savage & Kid Ink
Yeeesh Bricc Baby coming for necks today. The rapper is currently prepping a follow-up to the underrated mixtape Nasty Dealer, with Nasty Dealer Pt. 2. Since dropping off a music video for "Gun" with us back in April, he's been quiet, but he returns today with not one but two bangers.
Roll Sum Up
Fetty Wap Feat. Kid Ink
Despite delivering three mega-hits and a debut album with solid cover-to-cover replay value in 2015, Fetty Wap has seemingly lost favor with many of hip hop fans. He's still cranking out tunes though...
Lil Durk Feat. Kid Ink
With Lil Durk's LilDurk2X mixtape only a couple weeks away, the Chicago artist unveils a new collaboration with Kid Ink called "Good Good." Durk and Ink are both in casual relationships with females in possession of that "good good." It just keeps 'em coming back... "Good Good" is under two minutes in length, plenty of time for them to pay homage to that "good good."
Vee Tha Rula Feat. Kid Ink
Tomorrow, HNHH will premiere Vee Tha Rula's mixtape From The Jump.
Kid Ink delighted fans with his DJ Mustard-executive produced surprise Christmas project Summer in the Winter. He promised a leftover record from the Summer in the Winter recordings as soon as the project cracked the iTunes Top 5. Today, he makes due on his promise, dropping off "No Pretending," the last track to miss the project cut.
Kid Ink just surprised fans with his brand new Summer In The Winter project, capping off 2015 with his second full-length in the calendar year. It's an appropriately titled effort, continuing with the rapper's signature melodic west coast bounce, which plays just as well in December as it does in July.
Kid Ink Feat. Fetty Wap
Kid Ink has a huge Christmas present in store for his fans. Tomorrow he will unleash a secret project called Summer in the Winter. This afternoon, HNHH premieres the first official leak from the project, "Promise" feat. Fetty Wap and produced by DJ Mustard.
Kid Ink Feat. Curren$y & Vee Tha Rula
Kid Ink has spent the last month or two across the pond for his "Full Speed" European tour, but true to form, he's still been dropping tracks. After sharing Cardiak-produced "I Been" feat. Vee Da Rula last week, young Ink drops off an exceptionally smooth track by the name of "Feel Inside."
Kid Ink Feat. Vee Tha Rula & Hardhead
Kid Ink never stays quiet for too long. While the rapper has been making moves in his personal life (an engagement, a baby, to say the least), he's kept the music coming with freestyle after freestyle. After delivering "Aww Man" and "Game Time," he links with his squad for the Cardiak-produced banger "I Been."
Jonn Hart Feat. 50 Cent & Kid Ink
As effective as it was, 50 Cent was a bit of a strange choice of feature for Jonn Hart's "New Chick". The RnBass sound of the record seemed to call for a verse from another west coaster, and today, Hart has decided to give an one of the region's biggest voices a shot on the official remix. Keeping Fif's 16 intact, Kid Ink now also adds a verse, and as we've heard him do countless times by now, his effortlessly catchy style works perfectly with the glossy synth riff.
