Kid Ink's "Show Me" Certified Platinum, New Tour Dates Added
It didn't take long to realize that Kid Ink's "Show Me" was a hit. The track, which features an assist from Chris Brown, a Robin S.-sampling, Mustard-helmed beat, as well as some writing credits from Jeremih and TeeFLii has pretty much everything going for it. After becoming a chart mainstay, the song has now achieved platinum status, breaking the 1 million mark this week. Simultaneously, Kid Ink has announced some new tour dates, adding to his already lengthy tour in support of My Own Lane.
Samples Of The Week: March 13
When hip-hop began, samples were all that DJs and producers had to construct instrumental tracks with. They'd dig through crates of vinyl trying to find isolated drum breaks, melodies or vocals that they could repurpose for use in hip-hop music. Today, sampling has become less common, but a choice sample can still push a track from lukewarm to hot faster than you can say "uh huh honey." This week, see who Kid Ink, Jay Z, A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar chose to sample in their recent releases, all of which you can find on HNHH.

Kid Ink has had quite the successful 2013, and he kept things going into 2014 with the release of his debut effort on RCA, My Own Lane. The album sold 50,000 units opening week, which is pretty impressive for the LA native, as he continues to expand his fan base outside of the Los Angeles area.
Charts Don’t Lie: January 26
This week the charts remained relatively calm, with no hip-hop new-comers to speak of yet. However, Ty Dolla $ign recently dropped his new Beach House EP, so we'll have to see how well that does sales-wise next week. This past week was Kid Ink's second week on the Billboard 200, and while he wasn't able to maintain a spot within the top 20 of the Billboard 200, he was pretty close, dropping to #21 after a #3 debut. Although Ink is signed to RCA, this is his debut effort and while he's pushing towards the mainstream, he hasn't quite broken down the barrier yet.
Charts Don't Lie: January 19
This week we welcome a new entry on Charts Don't Lie, Kid Ink. Kid Ink is a prime example of a rapper who took his internet fame way past the internet. The Alumni rapper is now signed to a major label, and was able to successfully release his debut album My Own Lane-- he actually surpassed the sales projections of 40-45k. Ink sold a respectable 50k, which isn't too shabby for an artist who is not quite mainstream yet, although it's only a matter of time until he gets there.
First Week Sales For Kid Ink's "My Own Lane"

Review: Kid Ink's "My Own Lane"
Kid Ink may have suddenly rose to popularity with the 2012 catchy hit “Time of Your Life” but the California rapper has been at it longer than that. Releasing his first mixtape in 2010, Kid Ink, real name Brian Collins, gained a slew of fans with his laid-back style and blend of singing and rapping.
