The 10 Best R&B/Rap Covers Of Classic Songs
Searching "rap covers" online is like walking into a minefield of acoustic guitars and webcams, leftovers from a war that began with Ben Folds' famous version of Dr. Dre's "Bitches Ain't Shit." An earnest-sounding white dude with a guitar and an angelic backing choir singing things like "Lick on these nuts and suck the dick" was (believe it or not) novel at some point, but now that approach has been beaten to death. Last year, for example, a ten year old covered "Trap Queen."
The "Internet Rapper" Phenomenon
Since debuting in 2008, XXL's annual Freshman Class feature has had its fair share of questionable choices (such as Kidd Kidd appearing a full eight years after we first heard him on "Mrs. Officer") and flops, not to mention numerous omissions of rappers who've gone onto stardom. It's never exactly been considered a finger-on-the-pulse-type source for new talent, but rather a conversation starter and surface-level barometer for casual hip-hop hobbyists.

Kid Cudi Took A Bunch Of His Fans To See "Star Wars"
If you're a Star Wars fan, there's a good chance you've already seen the new The Force Awakes. Perhaps you've even turned down a couple of invitations to see the movie from lesser nerds since. With that being said, Cudi gave fans an offer they couldn't refuse last night, announcing that he'd fill a movie theatre with fans to watch the movie. Naturally, this was his third time seeing it. Putting up all the info on Twitter, Cudder easily packed the venue, and inspired much Instagram flexing from the lucky fans who got in.
Kid Cudi Calls Out Copycat Rappers
Kid Cudi's new album, Speedin Bullet to Heaven, found the rapper further descending the rock n roll rabbit hole-- or, at least, continuing to stray from his rapping roots. Nonetheless, it's safe to say that Cudder was among the first generation of 'Internet' rappers, rappers that helped the blogosphere become what it is today.
Top Tracks: December 7 - December 13
We're quickly approaching the holidays, which means the year-end lists are in full effect. While many of us are looking back at the abundance of great music that's dropped over the past 50 weeks, some of our favorite rappers are showing no signs of showing down. Shortly after dropping his Black Friday remix package with Kendrick Lamar, J.
Review: Kid Cudi's "Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven"
As one of the most significant rappers of the past decade, for better or worse, Kid Cudi's stamp on the genre has been inescapable. I mean, lets face it, Kanye's last 3 albums have not only featured that man in some right, but they've also had Cudi's fingerprints all over. Loathe though I am to stroke his ego, there's no mistaking that a great deal of non-street rap in the last few years may have been kids raised on Kanye, but Cudi was their babysitter.
6 Artists That Probably Influenced Kid Cudi's "Speedin' Bullet To Heaven"
Kid Cudi has been a bit of a WTF story over the past few years. Mr. Rager exploded onto the scene with a couple of mixtapes and a couple solid albums, some that people may even call classics of the 2010 era. He caught the attention of Kanye West and Jay Z while appealing to the indie crowd with MGMT samples. At one point, he was destined to be the next greatest thing in rap music. Then he stopped making rap.

Top Tracks: November 30 - December 6
We got a wealth of new music last Friday, and, indeed, Rick Ross, Kid Cudi, and Jeremih all added tracks off their new albums to this week's Top 10. Lyrically-minded fans are still reeling from the week before, though, when Kendrick and Cole exchanged remixes. Both "Black Friday" tracks comfortably stuck around for this week's Top 10.
Kid Cudi Is Upset His Album Was Labeled "Hip-Hop" On iTunes
Kid Cudi may have began his career in hip-hop, but he's always made sure to push the boundaries of the genre. Every release since his debut has found Cudder straying further away from rap, and with the release of Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven, he's distancing himself from the "hip-hop" title entirely. Reporting to Twitter yesterday, Cudi revealed that the iTunes version of the album was missing a digital booklet due to some "fuck head" messing up, but that wasn't his only gripe with the release.

#TBT: Mixtape Kid Cudi
Kid Cudi has a record coming out tomorrow called Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven, and apparently it's almost completely void of rap music. While we obviously respect Cudi's artistic decision to do whatever the fuck he desires, we like to remember Cudi back in his mixtape prime. He was a brainy oddball, known for taking non-rap sounds and bringing them into the hip hop world. His debut mixtape, 2008's A Kid Named Cudi, was heralded for doing just that.
Kid Cudi Cancels “Especial” Tour
After hearing that Chris Brown has cancelled his upcoming Australian & New Zealand tour dates, it appears Kid Cudi has done the same now.
