Ty Dolla $ign
Ty Dolla $ign visited Power 105.1 to have a conversation with Angie Martinez about his forthcoming album, Free TC, due out on November 13th. The highly anticipated debut album was named after Ty's younger brother, TC, who the singer says has been locked up for eight years on a murder he didn't actually commit. Ty says they gave him life in prison, but he's hoping to change that.
Kendrick Lamar Meets Quincy Jones
Quincy Delight Jones is probably the most successful music producer of all time. Composing film scores (e.g. the epic "Austin Powers" theme song) and producing for artists from literally every genre, he's racked up 27 GRAMMYs over the course of his 70 years in the business and he's still active in the studio.

Jay Rock Feat. Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q & Ab-Soul
We're less than an hour and a half away from the release of Jay Rock's 90059, and as if the hype already wasn't high enough, Rock has dropped the "Vice City" video, featuring Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, and Ab-Soul. Black Hippy is back in the building, and they're coming hard. We considered ourselves lucky to catch a "Vice City" leak ahead of the release, but little did we know all four Hippies were gonna show up for the video hours later.

Kendrick Lamar Brings Out Mos Def To Perform "Alright" At Osheaga
With Action Bronson pulling out of Montreal's Osheaga festival, Mos Def (who now goes by Yasiin Bey) was brought in to replace him. Not only were Canadian fans treated to a rare performance from the rapper, but he also made an appearance during Kendrick Lamar's set, helping him out on his To Pimp A Butterfly single, "Alright," replacing Pharrell on the hook.
Kendrick Lamar "For Free? (Interlude)" Video
The second track on this year's provocative To Pimp A Butterfly, the "For Free?" interlude is one of the most jarring tracks on the album for a number of reasons. First, there's the free jazz-style hodgepodge that forms the instrumental, making for some extremely slippery footing for Lamar to begin with. Then there's his freewheeling, off-the-wall delivery-- Lamar's really rapping like nobody else around on this track. Anyway, today "For Free?" has gotten a video.
Crowd Responds To Police Harassment By Chanting Kendrick Lamar's "Alright"
After police arrested a 14-year old during a street gathering in Cleveland, the crowd chanted the refrain from Kendrick Lamar's "Alright" in protest. Here's how the person who uploaded the video described the scene... "While everyone was demanding his release an officer pepper sprayed the crowd and further escalated the situation. In unity and solidarity everyone was demanding that he be released, and we stayed and protested until they released him!"
Pirus & Crips Share Their Thoughts On Kendrick Lamar's Reeboks
"If Pirus & Crips, all got along." In a nice piece of branded content, a pair of gang members, G Weed (Piru) and Jigga (Crip), sit down and talk about the nature of gang culture in Compton, such as how kids get indoctrinated at a young age. “You know it’s like the real definition of ‘Only the strong survive’ right here,” Jigga said. They then busted out the unreleased Kendrick Lamar Reebok Ventilators that read "red" on one shoe and "blue" on the other.
Jidenna Feat. Kendrick Lamar "Classic Man (Remix)" Video
Jidenna Feat. Kendrick Lamar
Jidenna's "Classic Man" was doing just fine off the strength of a Janelle Monae co-sign, but putting Kendrick Lamar on the remix should put it over the top. While we heard the new version a few weeks back, it now has its very own video, which isn't all too different from the first, but there's a whole lot more Kendrick this time around, plus cameos from Monae, and for some reason, Ty Dolla $ign.

Dot talked about everything from his new album To Pimp A Butterfly & its album sales to reaching the youth and paying homage to some of the West Coast legends. Anytime we get K Dot sitting down for an interview is always a treat. Check out the informative chat above.

Kendrick Lamar "Alright" Video
Juxtaposed by being placed back-to-back on the To Pimp A Butterfly tracklist, Kendrick Lamar's "u" and "Alright" represent opposite ends of the spectrum for the emotionally powerful rapper. Today, strains of the former introduce the latter's video.
Kendrick Lamar Performs "Alright" At BET Awards
About 30 minutes before winning Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Kendrick Lamar brought down the house at the BET Awards with his opening performance of "Alright." Rocking out in a sea of dancers, cop cars, and a dude waving the American flag, Kendrick demonstrates that he is an excellent performer and not just a rapper who brings the heat in the studio. Everyone and their momma is performing at the BET Awards, here is the complete list:
J. Cole Brings Out Kendrick Lamar In L.A.
J. Cole Feat. Kendrick Lamar
J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar's mutual respect is well-documented, with the two rappers consistently hinting at a collaborative project that has still yet to surface. With that being said, we hadn't seen or heard them together in a minute, so Lamar's appearance at J. Cole's Dollar and a Dream show in L.A. was a pleasant surprise. Kendrick performed “Alright” and the fan favorite, but seldom-performed b-side, "Cartoons & Cereal". Maybe later that night they got back in the studio together? We can only hope.

60 Seconds With Kendrick Lamar
VEVO does a segment, apparently, called ":60 With" where they spend a minute with an artist and fire off a series of quick questions. Kendrick Lamar is the latest subject of their ":60 With" series, which you can watch above. Among the brief question and answers, Kendrick chooses his favorite letter between "I" and "U"(he chooses "U"), he describes his "King Kunta" instrumental in three words ("aggressive, harsh, unapologetic"), which Tupac track he'd like to drop a verse on ("Ambitionz Of A Ridah") and the new track he's most excited to perform live ("Wesley's Theory").
Kendrick Lamar Visits High Tech High School In New Jersey
A few weeks ago, we heard about a lesson put together at New Jersey's High Tech High School, which used Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly as its subject. Mr. Mooney, the english teacher who organized the class, wrote a blog post about the experience, and it eventually made its way to Kendrick, who instantly decided to visit the students.
Kendrick Lamar On BBC Radio 1
Kendrick Lamar took a trip across the pond, and while there he had a sit-down with BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac. In the two-part interview, Kendrick delves into the creation of To Pimp A Butterfly. He also talks about the jazzy elements of TPAB, and the contributors who helped make the album what it is. Catch that in the first part of the interview above.
Kendrick Lamar Trolls Paparazzi By Filming Them
While it's very easy to be driven into a freakout by paparazzi, one must remember that there is one tried-and-true way to get rabid photographers to back down-- give them a taste of their own medicine. Kendrick Lamar did just that as he was leaving LAX today, filming a TMZ cameraman with his phone, and getting his whole squad to do the same. Not only is it hilarious, it makes the cameraman pretty uncomfortable, which is a W for Lamar on multiple levels. Of course, if all else fails, you can always send the paps after ScHoolboy Q.
