The Weeknd Feat. Kendrick Lamar
The Weeknd's highly anticipated album, Starboy, hit online retailers at midnight/shelves today. Based off my first initial listen, it's one of the avant-garde singer's best pieces of work to date, or at least, since his mixtape spree put him on. What do you guys think, initial impression-wise?
Dont Wanna Know
Maroon 5 Feat. Kendrick Lamar
We warned you a few hours ago that it was coming tonight, and here it is. Maroon 5’s new single with Kendrick Lamar called “Don’t Wanna Know” was just made available on iTunes.
Really Doe (CDQ)
Danny Brown Feat. Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul & Earl Sweatshirt
UPDATE: Official version has been added.A few hours after sharing a snippet of "Really Doe" on Instagram, Danny Brown premiered the track on Peter Rosenberg's HOT 97 radio show late Sunday night. By the good graces of Jah, the song features not only Brown, but Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul & Earl Sweatshirt, all of whom attack the left-field, bell-driven beat from a different angle.
Sia Feat. Kendrick Lamar
Well here’s something we didn’t see coming. Out of nowhere, international pop-singer Sia decides to liberate a new single called “The Greatest” which appropriately features one of the "greatest" rappers in our game right now in Kendrick Lamar.
DJ Khaled Feat. Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean & Betty Wright
DJ Khaled’s is getting ready to release his highly anticipated new album next Friday, July 29 called Major Key. Laced with “14 anthems,” the follow up to I Changed A Lot will feature a star-studded lineup consisting of Jay Z, Future, J Cole, Drake, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Chris Brown, Big Sean, and plenty more.
THat Part (Black Hippy Remix)
ScHoolboy Q Feat. Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul & Jay Rock
Schoolboy Q’s highly anticipated sophomore album is just minutes away from arriving, but before it does, the TDE rapper decided to share a new Black Hippy remix of his Kanye West-assisted single “THat Part” first. Leaving Kanye’s verse out however, Q, Kendrick, Ab-Soul & Jay Rock all lay down their respective verses over the reworked, Cardo & Cubeatz-produced beat. And of course, K. Dot unbiasedly takes the crown with one nasty-ass verse. Take a listen and let us know how it compares to the OG version?
Section.80 turns 5 this Saturday (stay tuned for Section.80-related content). The time is ripe to revisit the album, in particular "Rigamortis," one of the first instances in which Kendrick Lamar displayed bravado equal to his lyrical talents. With a distaste for other rappers he would later expanded upon in "Control," he condemns his rivals to a fate worse than death -- death at the hands of Kendrick Lamar. "Dead 'em all and especially, leave a call on his mother voicemail."
Mistah F.A.B. Feat. Kendrick Lamar, KXNG CROOKED & Kobe Honeycutt
On May 27, Mistah Fab release the sequel to his 2005 album Son Of A Pimp, which will feature a whopping 21 songs in total and guest appearances from an all-star lineup consisting of 2 Chainz, Lupe Fiasco, Snoop Dogg, Bun B, Keyshia Cole, Raekwon, G-Eazy, Curren$y, B.o.B, Too $hort, Boosie Badazz, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, and more.
Beyoncé Feat. Kendrick Lamar
Some had posited that Beyonce's "Lemonade" special on HBO would be a documentary. Instead, it was an hour-long film that included a whole album's worth of new music. Beyonce's first-person narrations weaved in and out of new music videos with perfect cohesiveness. It was a "visual album," and a fantastic way for Bey to release her new music, providing a visual story to all the music on Lemonade, which was released on Tidal immediately after the film ended on HBO.
untitled 07 l levitate
Levitate, levitate, levitate, levitate. Kendrick Lamar's "Untitled 7" contains some of the most memorable lyrics of his new album untitled unmastered. It's 8 minutes and 16 seconds long. Other than "Stairway to Heaven" and "White Privilege II", few songs of that length have been released as singles. Kendrick has packaged the first two and half minutes of the song and released as the album's first single.
Ain't That Funkin’ Kinda Hard On You? (Remix)
Funkadelic Feat. Kendrick Lamar & Ice Cube
Kendrick Lamar fans are still struggling to wrap their mind around his "Untitled II" performance last month on The Tonight Show. Some worried that "Untitled II," like "Untitled," would never get actually recorded... but Kendrick's first "Untitled II" verse makes a surprise appearance in Funkadelics's new "Ain't That Funkin’ Kinda Hard On You?" remix.
The New Cupid
BJ The Chicago Kid Feat. Kendrick Lamar
If you need some good ol' fashioned soul, BJ The Chicago Kid will do the trick. The singer is finally releasing his In My Mind album, which has been in the works for a minute now. He actually teased the Kendrick Lamar feature almost a year ago, and today, along with the entire album stream, we've received "The New Cupid."
No More Parties In L.A.
Kanye West Feat. Kendrick Lamar
Kim Kardashian took to Twitter over the weekend to clarify the conspicuous absence of a new Kanye West track on G.O.O.D. Friday: he had been unavoidably detained at a Yeezy Season 3 fitting in Italy.
Real Friends/No More Parties In LA
Kanye West Feat. Kendrick Lamar & Ty Dolla $ign
Kim Kardashian promised us new Yeezy last night, and indeed, her man has exceeded all expectations by dropping two songs in one, both with the potential to be SWISH material. The first is titled "Real Friends," the track Kim hinted at with last night's tweet, and afterwards, there's a surprise collab with Kendrick Lamar and Madlib, "No More Parties in LA."
Alright (Terrace Martin Remix)
Kendrick Lamar Feat. Pharrell
Terrace Martin worked extensively on Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly, adding much of his jazz sensibility to the dense project, but "Alright" was one of the moments that broke out of the noodling with a loud and fierce declaration. There are still jazz players on the record, but it's propelled primarily by a pounding sub-bass-line.
Black Friday (Alright Remix)
J. Cole has been pretty quiet in 2015. But with a month left, it appears that things may be heating up. Very quickly.
Black Friday (A Tale Of 2 Citiez Remix)
Happy Black Friday! Kendrick Lamar has blessed us with a special remix to celebrate (? is it something you celebrate) Black Friday, and it happens to be a remix of J. Cole's banging record "A Tale of 2 Citiez." For those missing that hard-hitting Kendrick, this should do the trick, as he barrels through the ringing beat.
Traffic Jam (Easy Bake Remix)
Jay Rock Feat. Kendrick Lamar & SZA
After giving us the well-received 90059 album, we assumed Jay Rock would go back into hiding for another year or two. Not so fast this time around though, the rapper has been doing more interviews than usual (see our recent conversation with him below), and even announced a tour (albeit it's an extremely short one).
Ty Dolla $ign Feat. Kendrick Lamar, Brandy & James Fauntleroy
Ty Dolla $ign's debut album Free TC has been three years in the making, and it is finally dropping next week on November 13th. Ty has already rolled out six songs, the most recent being "Sitting Pretty" feat. Wiz Khalifa.
Shadow Of Death
Jay Rock Feat. Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q & Ab-Soul
We're just hours away from the release of Jay Rock's 90059, and to prepare you for Rock's second studio album, we're taking it back to 2010, when TDE was just starting to make waves in Southern Cal.
