Today, we take enjoyment from the misery of others. It's no secret that most artists experience creative highs at their personal lows. Sadly, there's nothing like a good travesty to really make someone look deeper and pull meaning from their experiences--unless you're Robin Thicke; then it's just an opportunity to embarrass yourself in front of a nation with an album filled with contradictory lyrics and lazy instrumentals (sorry, Robby, I'm still a fan).

Despite not releasing an album in 2013, Kendrick Lamar managed to keep his name on the tip of everyone's tongue. Whether through his unavoidable "Control" verse, his opening slot on Kanye West's Yeezus tour, or his much-talked about snub at the Grammys, K.Dot kept his profile up throughout the year. The true test now lies with his follow-up to GKMC, which is said to be dropping this year.

Kendrick Lamar Talks "good kid, m.A.A.d city" Being Called A Classic, Follow Up Album

Expectations are high for Kendrick Lamar's follow-up to good kid, m.A.A.d city. The rapper's 2012 effort (which you can't call his debut album or his sophomore album without pissing someone off) was greeted with almost unanimous praise within days of its release, which makes the pressure pretty high for the next album, but according K.Dot, he's not feeling all that much.

Two days back we had an article about the origins of certain flows, and some of our ever reliable commenters took it to be some sort of ranking of the best flows, which was not the case. The entire point of the article was to point out that some flows are influenced by region, and some by other artists. It was in no way a ranking of the best flows, yet the internet kids kept yelling "HOW IZ WIZ NOT BE ON DA LISST?" and "YOUNG THUG HAZ BEST FLOWS OF ALL TYME". Yet, there was no list.

While emcees and rappers are mostly lauded for their lyrical capability, there’s something astonishing about having voice control, diversified delivery and for whatever reason, having a voice that stands out.

With Kendrick Lamar's last album, 2012's good kid, m.A.Ad city receiving more critical praise than any other hip-hop album of the year, you'd think the L.A. rapper would be feeling some heat to craft a follow-up that matches its predecessor's acclaim, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

While he didn't actually release an album last year, Kendrick Lamar managed to put the rap game in a stir. "Control" kept the rapper in the conversation throughout 2013, but in the new year, the rapper has been a little more low-key. One would assume that this is because K.Dot is getting ready to drop his highly anticipated follow-up to good kid, m.A.A.d city.

Despite being one of the most acclaimed, Kendrick Lamar isn't exactly the flashiest of rappers. The Compton emcee doesn't do a whole lot of flexing, and the new home he's reportedly bought himself reflects that. The modest abode is located about an hour outside of L.A. in Eastvale, California, and appears to be in a fairly suburban area.

Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d. city made a huge impact on the rap game upon its release, and while the rapper has remained a looming presence since its release ("Control" anyone?), anticipation has remained for the follow-up to his debut. Drugs are everywhere in hip-hop. Whether they're mentioned on the radio, seen in music videos, or smuggled into concerts, drugs are pretty much unavoidable in the genre. Weed, lean, pills, coke, booze, shrooms, you name it, dope's not to hard to find. Many rappers, like Juicy J or Lil Wayne, have made it clear in their music that they love getting fucked up. Despite the popularity of drugs in hip-hop culture, not every rapper partakes in popping mollys or getting fried.

YG has been enjoying decent reception for his album My Krazy Life since it was released a few days ago. It has a dirty, thorough sound that the recalls the echoes of previous recent masterpieces, like Kendrick's "GOOD Kid" record. That's exactly why YG thought Kendrick would be so keen to make an appearance on the record and he shared as much when talking to MTV about the record.
