DJ Khaled Says Kendrick Lamar Will Be The Highlight Of "Major Key"
As anyone who heard "Big Sean's "Control" knows, Kendrick Lamar comes hard with the guest verses. He'll have a guest verse on DJ Khaled's album Major Key, which comes out on July 29th. Kendrick Lamar went so hard,” he said. “His verse I feel like is gonna be one of the most talked about verses."
Top Tracks: July 11 - July 17
I'm not going to take the time to crunch all of the numbers for the 28 weeks of 2016 we've experienced thus far, but in terms of artists who show up most often in our weekly top ten tracks list, it's not even close. Drake is the clear victor, seeming to find a way on here every week. Second place is a little more murky.

10 Rappers Turned Social Activists
Materialism and humanitarianism are often at odds in hip hop. Actavis and activism do not always go hand-in-hand. But hip hop is a world unto itself, and countless rappers have used their platform to fight for the underprivileged.
Top Tracks: July 4 - July 10
Even on the very rare occasion that Drake doesn't show up in our top ten tracks of the week, his presence is still felt. In this case, he's directly responsible for three separate tracks in the top ten, whether that entails remixes or disses aimed at him.

10 Essential Sounwave Productions
Sounwave is one quarter of Top Dawg Entertainment’s in-house production unit the Digi-Phonics. Although deeply respected in the hip hop production community, he rarely strays outside the confines of TDE's roster of artists, and even within TDE he collaborates with Kendrick Lamar more than anyone else (although he did produce three tracks on ScHoolboy Q's new album Blank Face LP). Along with Terrace Martin, he was one of the chief architects of To Pimp a Butterfly's sonic universe.
Vote: Who Had The Best Verse On The Black Hippy "THat Part" Remix?
Last night, ScHoolboy delivered not only his new album Blank Face LP, but a scintillating Black Hippy remix of his single "THat Part." The absence of a Black Hippy cut on the tracklist was troubling; fortunately, ScHoolboy remedied the situation for the fans.
The 10 Best Hip Hop Protest Songs Since The Trayvon Martin Shooting
It feels as though the never-ending cycle of violence in the United States is threatening to swallow the country whole. ScHoolboy Q Suggests "THat Part" Black Hippy Remix Is In The Works
Tracks featuring Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, & Ab-Soul, the four members of Black Hippy, are always fire and increasingly rare. Which is why fans were so stoked to get a Black Hippy cut on Jay Rock's 90059 in the form of "Vice City" and so disappointed to see the absence of a Black Hippy cut on ScHoolboy's Blank Face LP tracklist.
Erykah Badu Offers Response To Kendrick Lamar Romance Rumors
Apparently, since Kendrick Lamar dropped the lyric "Um, well cutie, I like your bougie bootie/Come Erykah Badu me/Hell, let’s make a movie," on Kanye West's "No More Parties In L.A." the internets have been abuzz with rumors that this means that K. Dot and the legendary singer are an item.

By The Numbers: Kendrick Lamar's "Section.80" 5 Years Later
Kendrick Lamar earned himself a passionate following through his many mixtape releases, and later found huge critical acclaim through the release of his two densely conceptual major label releases, good kid, MAAD city, and To Pimp A Butterfly, but for many, it all began with Section.80, the rapper's first retail release through Top Dawg Entertainment, and in many ways, the blueprint for his later work. That project was released July 2nd 2011, or in other words, 5 years ago today.
The Top 20 Projects Of 2016 (So Far)
In the midst of a year that was already challenging peoples' definitions of mixtapes, albums, and "free" projects, Chance The Rapper asked, "Am I the only n*gga who still cares about a mixtape?" On the surface, it made sense-- Chance is one of the few top-tier artists who've never sold a single copy of his internet-only projects-- but as his latest, Coloring Book, was released exclusively via a deal with Apple Music, both his independent claim and the definition of "mixtape" were subsequently scrutinized.

Watch Every BET Awards 2016 Performance
Sunday night's BET Awards was one of the show's best iterations in years. Performers included Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Usher, Young Thug, Future, Bryson Tiller, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, French Montana, & Anderson. Paak -- and that doesn't even include any of the Prince tributes, which were bountiful and glorious. Sadly, the scheduled D'Angelo Prince tribute never came to pass. Otherwise, the show was nearly flawless.

There have been few debut albums over the past decade or so that have made a bigger impact than YG's My Krazy Life. With his new album, Still Brazy, he intends to become a West Coast icon. After his successful debut, YG's life didn't get much easier, which is reflected on Still Brazy, by far his darkest work yet.
