The rap game is all about your aesthetic. What you do, how you do it, how you look and how you market yourself are all a massive factor in a successful career. Some rappers take their aesthetic to the next level, creating something completely unique out of their brand. The Grammy's prime nemesis has won more Awards than anyone his age--21 total. He's released seven albums, none of them less-than-great, and that doesn't even touch on the classic records he's produced, including his own.

After Beck was announced the winner of Album of the Year, the final award of the night, at last weekend's Grammys, Kanye rushed the stage but stopped himself before he reached the mic; a far less dramatic stunt than when he famously interrupted Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs. Still, many think Kanye's intentions were disrespectful, especially as he said, "Beck needs to respect artistry" during an interview after the Awards. He now tells Seacrest his comments were misguided--"obviously Beck is one of the most respected artists and respects artistry."

It almost looked as if Kanye West was going to win America back at last Sunday's Grammys. A Beatles co-sign, and a song about his daughter, sung from the perspective of his late mother, seemed to be a sure bet to grab the hearts of the audience he lost with his VMA interruption years back. Toward the end of the show, he even riffed on that moment, poking fun at himself by approaching the stage when Beyonce lost album of the year to Beck, only to grin and turn back to his seat.
