You may remember a time when Kanye West was incredibly bothered by paparazzi, this era of Ye came to a peak when the rapper grabbed a photographer outside of LAX in July 2013 (the severity of the act very much embellished by the cameraman). The rapper was able to get out of a misdemeanor battery charge by pleading no contest, but the photog hasn't given up trying to make a buck off Kanye since.

Although he once claimed to be "so Chi" that you thought he was bashful, Kanye West isn't frequently thought of as a quintessential Chicago rapper, with his global fame often overshadowing his ties to his hometown. Mr. West is unarguably the most popular rapper to ever come out of the Windy City, but the regional term "Chicago rap" is more likely to be associated with Common and No I.D., or even younger dudes like Chief Keef at this point.

Kanye West Will Executive Produce The Soundtrack For A New Show About The Underground Railroad
    Apr 7, 2015 at 12:25pm
Kanye West has been known to fill the executive producer role on some big albums, including Jay Z's Blueprint 3, Pusha T's My Name Is My Name, Big Sean' Dark Sky Paradise, and most recently Rihanna's upcoming R8. It's clear that Ye has a knack for curating sounds, and thus he's been tapped to play the exec role in a new drama called "Underground". The show will take place during a time of slavery in America, following a group of men and women who are attempting to escape from the trade through the Underground Railroad.

HOT 97 revealed it's full Summer Jam lineup last week, so we knew it was only a matter of time before POWER 106, L.A's dominant station, fired back with it's annual POWERHOUSE lineup. Like HOT 97's bill, the event is not shy on big names, pulling a rare headlining spot from Kanye West, as well as support from Kid Ink, Ty Dolla $ign, Nipsey Hussle, Tinashe, and more.

You Can Now Buy A Bible That Replaces "God" With "Kanye West"
    Apr 5, 2015 at 09:56am
Kanye West has declared himself a god on more than one occasion, and has even cited Jesus as a role model, revealing that he grew up wanting to be "like Christ". While Ye is seen as something of a holy figure in the world of music, he now has his own scripture to go along with his obsession with deification -- The Book Of Yeezus. We first heard about the bible where each mention of God's name was replaced with Kanye or Yeezus a while back, but it's now on the market. If you thought Sunday school needed more of a hip-hop flavor, this might be a good opportunity for you.

Although he's been releasing a steady stream of mixtapes in recent years (the latest being 2013's Ism Churchill), Chicago rapper GLC hasn't really been in the spotlight since he guested on Kanye West's first two albums in the early 2000s. He parted ways with GOOD Music back in 2010, but now we've learned that he'll be working with Kanye again (as well as Dame Dash) on his upcoming album.

While there are many artists involved in the newly re-launched streaming service, TIDAL, Jay Z remains the company's main representative. The rapper visited NYU yesterday to give a Q&A on the goals of the company, in which he spoke of the exclusive content the service will offer, his view that thing should be as "transparent" as possible, and the worth of a musician's passion.

This TIDAL “hi-fidelity music streaming” thing is actually happening. Not formally acquainted? Well, allow me to introduce you. A group of 16 mega-star musicians and/or musically-inclined entertainers united in a noble effort this past Monday to launch a music streaming service that offers audiences music with CD-quality sound, videos and other "exclusive" content the way artists like Jay-Z, Beyonce, Kanye West and Rihanna originally intended to--for a fee of $19.99 a month, of course.

Cole, and Win and Regine from Arcade Fire were among the many announced, and after arranging themselves in a line across the stage, the musicians each signed a contract with the company.
