A day after releasing his new mixtape, Casino Life 2, French lets us know the best is yet to come. Casino Life 2 was a star-studded affair, featuring Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and Migos, to name a few, and French's next album, Mac & Cheese: The Album, will pose a couple of exciting features as well, namely: Kanye West and Miguel. Just a couple, though.

    May 8, 2015 at 01:27am
For someone who doesn’t make music, Amber Rose sure knows how to stay relevant in the hip-hop industry. Making an appearance at L.A.’s Supper Club recently, Amber had some very choice words about her former boyfriend, Kanye West. Apparently the club’s DJ kept playing Kanye's songs with Amber in attendance and she wasn’t feeling it. Grabbing the mic, Amber told DJ: “Stop playing niggas I used to fuck, stop. Why don’t we play the nigga who writes the songs for the other nigga, Travis Scott!”

It's becoming more commonplace for rappers to be granted University lectures, but if your name isn't Kanye West or Lil B The Based God, it might be hard to land a gig at one of the more elite institutions. Chance The Rapper recently broke that barrier, speaking at Harvard University's Hip-Hop Archive & Research Institute, which will surely host plenty of more musicians in the future.

When looking at auto-tune's invasion of rap, we usually talk about T-Pain, but the use of pitch-correction software to produce a robotic vocal effect actually goes a little deeper than that. Cher's 1998 comeback single, "Believe," is generally agreed upon as the first time we heard auto-tune used in this way, and Kanye West is well aware of the record's impact.

The Best Possible Acronyms For Kanye West's "SWISH"
    May 4, 2015 at 02:24pm
Yesterday, Kanye West tweeted, and as usual, the Internet crumbled to shreds. Last month, Kanye tweeted a picture (of what looked like an album cover) with the words: So Help Me God. Rather than a cry for help, we took 'Ye's words to be the title of his upcoming album, which he plans to release this year--of course, he won't tell us when. His latest tweet did disclose, however, that So Help Me God is no longer the name of his next album. The current title: SWISH.

Who Had The Better Verse: Fabolous Vs. Lloyd Banks
    May 4, 2015 at 12:59pm
New York has always had a strong lineage of lyrical rappers. The Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Rakim, and Jay Z cultivated New York Rap with their lyrical candor and unblemished wordplay. While some tried to follow the blueprint of these rap aficionados, many failed. Despite there being a dearth of lyrical rappers representing NY, Fabolous and Lloyd Banks have undoubtedly left their marks. Neither is loud and boisterous, but each pack huge punches within their arsenal. When both men collide on a record, all you hear are #bars, making it pretty difficult to gauge who out-rapped the other.

    May 3, 2015 at 03:09pm
At the beginning of March, Kanye tweeted a picture that looked like album artwork with the caption: "So Help Me God." Since, we've taken those words to be the title of Kanye's upcoming seventh studio album, but, today, on Twitter (again), Kanye has given us a new title... for now. 'Ye tweeted that he's changing his album title to SWISH, though, a minute later, he clarified: "I might change it again." But, for now, SWISH it is.

Paul McCartney Compares Kanye West's Songwriting Process To John Lennon's
    May 1, 2015 at 12:51pm
Paul McCartney's worked with a who's-who of legends in the music industry including, but certainly not limited to, Michael Jackson, Pete Townsend, Stevie Wonder and Kanye West, but John Lennon is a different story entirely. With nearly all of the Beatles' music credited to the Lennon/McCartney songwriting team, they're no doubt one of the most respected songwriting duos in history. That's why it's so crazy to hear Sir Paul compare Kanye's songwriting process to his former right hand man's.

Despite the fortuitous shift in the music industry, the status of Jay Z and Kanye West remains unblemished. For over a decade, Hov and Ye anchored the remaining bits of Roc-A-Fella by extinguishing rays of doubts with timeless material. Since Reasonable Doubt, nobody questioned Jay’s lyrical prowess. He embodies consistency and longevity. With a run similar to Jordan's, it’s easy to see why he’s pegged as an all-time great.

Tyler, The Creator's new album, Cherry Bomb, is a bit of a divisive LP, but the one record that people seem to be agreeing on is the Kanye West and Lil Wayne collaboration, "Smuckers".Not only are the performances top notch, the instrumental is also quite an achievement, which makes sense, as it was apparently intended to be given to Jay Z and Kanye.

This may make you feel a little old, but Kid Cudi's career-launching mixtape A Kid Named Cudi is about to turn seven years old. While the "Day 'n' Nite" artist has released much music since then, many fans long for the alternative-minded rap the Cleveland kid layed down on his first two albums.
