The New York Times has cooked up an animated video that shares the history of the US's long-standing war on drugs, with none other than Jay Z providing the narration, inserting it with his opinion at the same damn time.

The Breakfast Club welcomed Hannibal Buress into the their studio today to talk about a wide range of topics including his role in exposing Bill Cosby to the world, and how he once got caught trying to take a picture of Jay Z and Beyonce. 

Jay Z may have lost a bit of his street edge after years on top of the game, but don’t think he can’t bring the G out if he needs to. That very situation occurred last night.

Over two months ago, Southside let it slip that he had taken part in producing a record that features Future, Jay Z, and DJ Khaled. The next month, it was revealed that this particular anthem indeed exists and that it belongs to DJ Khaled. Reserved for his upcoming album, Major Key, the kingpin collaboration was titled "I Got the Keys." Summer is now fully underway, and as much of the hip-hop world was tuned into the BET Awards tonight, Khaled decided that the time was ripe to finally share his highly anticipated new single.

One of the most talked about records off Beyonce's highly talked about (in general) album was "Sorry." This was the record with the infamous "Becky with the good hair" line, that spiraled into various theories as to who "Becky" might be (among names tossed around, Rita Ora and Rachel Roy).

Legendary producer Just Blaze has been mostly absent from the production game for the past few years, at least with regard to the mainstream, but best believe he's remained active in music, and in the art of DJing especially. Blaze was selected as the latest DJ to perform live for DJcity's MikiDz Show, and his set was filled with exclusives, including unheard tracks from Jay Z and Jay Electronica. 

Big day yesterday for Swizz Beatz' son Egypt. Young Egypt had the opportunity to watch Super Bowl 50 from a suite (unlimited popcorn!), accompanied by his dad, Jay Z, Usher, & Kendrick Lamar. Swizz captured the moment with a short video. "What you doing, working on a beat for Kendrick?" he asked his son. Also present in the suite were TDE CEO Anthony Tiffith and Swizz' lovely wife Alicia Keys. Egypt also got to meet Taraji P. Henson... lucky bastard.

The most anticipated stop on J. Cole's "2014 Forest Hills Drive" tour was in his hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina. The homecoming show was such an occasion, in fact, that it is the subject of an upcoming HBO special that will premiere on January 9 at 10 PM EST. Here's the first trailer for "Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming," and it's looking like the documentary will be a must-watch for any hip-hop fan. 

Jimmy Kimmel Live is broadcasting from Brooklyn Academy of Music this week, and last night's program featured a rather distinguished guest, Brooklyn's favorite son Jay Z. A proud moment for Brooklyn to say the least. In the interview, Jay talked about TIDAL, growing up in Brooklyn, rapping against Busta Rhymes in high school, life as a sports agent (his clients at Roc Nation Sports include Kevin Durant, Yoenis Cespedes, Victor Cruz, & Dez Bryant), and more.

We caught up with Young Gerald aka G-Eazy shortly before he unleashed a trifecta of new music on his Soundcloud. The rapper brought us up to speed on what he's been up to lately, which apparently includes hitting up a steakhouse with Hov.

Today is September 4th, more commonly known as Beyonce's birthday, aka #BeyDay. With #BeyDay trending around the world (literally, peep twitter), Beyonce's husband, Jay Z has dropped off a video that serves as a visual birthday card of sorts for the Queen Bey. Starting with Hov's famous "Beach Is Better" line, "Girl why you never ready for as long as you took/You better look like Halle Berry...or Beyoncé/Shit then we getting married," we get to see clips of Beyonce having fun, whether it be performing on stage, warming up in rehearsal, or roller skating.

One of the torchbearers of the classic New York City style, Vado took time out recently to spit a freestyle as a part of DJ Bobby Trends' "Shake Sessions." With a little help from Pain In Da Ass, Vado maxes on the Harlem rooftops and spits over Jay-Z's "Reservoir Dogs" from his Vol 2: Hard Knock Life in this Joe Green-directed vid. Vado's beat selection is on point here as the original featured The LOX and Beanie Siegel in a a classic NYC cypher.

Vic Mensa is definitely coming up in the world, in part thanks to a major Kanye West co-sign (that includes a verse from Ye on his hard-hitting single "U Mad"). While Vic was in New York, he did the press rounds which included a visit to Sway In The Morning.

In this week's episode of Word On The Street, we asked New Yorkers how they feel about Jay Z's new pet project, TIDAL. The responses were mixed (at least from those who knew what TIDAL was to begin with), however there was no confusing this lady's enthusiasm for anything Jay Z-related. When asked about TIDAL, she responded unsure, "who's TIDAL?" When told it was Jay Z's new streaming service, she immediately said, "That's my shit!" Before going on to elaborate on just HOW Brooklyn she is, with ratchet iPad in tow.

Over the course of their careers, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon have appeared on enough classic tracks together to have a joint greatest hits album. Today we learn that a track on Jay Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail could've almost made that list. While being interviewed by AllHipHop, Rae The Chef speaks on a photo of him and Hova in the studio that surfaced two years ago.

Ever since launching last month, the Jay Z-helmed streaming service Tidal has been a hot topic in the music world, whether due to its exclusive content or seemingly faltering level of usership.

Back in February, Vic Mensa went from Freshmen to rising superstar after singing on Kanye West's "Wolves." He's now got 'Ye on his own record, "U Mad," and just last week, he signed to Jay Z's Roc Nation. And he hasn't even put out an album yet. 

Today marks the seventh anniversary of Beyoncé and Jay Z's wedding, and to celebrate, Bey debuted a new song on TIDAL. Watch her perform the never-before-heard "Die With You" above.
