J. Cole Makes Good On Promise Of Attending Fan's Graduation
J. Cole's fans are the type to vehemently defend him in comment sections everywhere, and while we've yet to see him battling the trolls of HNHH, Cole makes an effort to care for his fans as they do for him. The NC rapper gave fans a chance to give him a call after he released the Revenge Of The Dreamers mixtape, and one conversation landed him in a spoken contract. If Cierra Bosarge was accepted to a four-year university program, Cole agreed that he would attend her high school graduation.

Top 5 Miguel X Rapper Collabs
Miguel isn't the most prolific artist in R&B, but he's one of the most inimitable. As he's become an undeniable fashion icon and sex-symbol, he's still managed to evolve his sound with each subsequent record, sounding like the second-coming of Prince-- less dancey, but more sexy. He's an artist of his own breed, which is why we don't see him on features as much as most R&B artists, who get more hype off their guest appearances on rap albums than on their solo work.
Top 7 Features On "SURF"
SURF finally came and it is going to be the soundtrack of everyone’s summer. The super-chill collaborative effort by Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment not only makes a serious case for 2015’s most valuable hip-hop album to date thus far, thanks to Chance the Rapper and the rest of DT & TSE, but it has some serious cameos that add to the fun.
Review: Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment's "SURF"
After a long wait, SURF is finally here. The debut LP from The Social Experiment (aka SOX) is billed as Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment despite the fact that the band’s biggest star is obviously Chance The Rapper. The album features, although they aren’t listed on the iTunes version of the free album, the likes of J. Cole, Big Sean, B.o.B, Busta Rhymes, and tons more, making SURF one of the year’s most star-studded affairs.

8 Must-See Hip-Hop Tours This Summer
The summer concert season is quickly approaching, as we close out the month of April. It’s comparable to Christmas for avid music fans. It doesn’t get much better than beautiful weather complimented by beautiful people dancing to bass-laden tunes. Excess amounts of cheap alcohol and THC add to the excitement at summer concerts.
Who Had The Better Verse: Jay Z Vs. Kanye West
Despite the fortuitous shift in the music industry, the status of Jay Z and Kanye West remains unblemished. For over a decade, Hov and Ye anchored the remaining bits of Roc-A-Fella by extinguishing rays of doubts with timeless material. Since Reasonable Doubt, nobody questioned Jay’s lyrical prowess. He embodies consistency and longevity. With a run similar to Jordan's, it’s easy to see why he’s pegged as an all-time great.
Poetic License: The Art Of Writing
Poetic license is not a new concept. The idea of poetic license can be traced back to the Greco-Roman classical era and is derived from the Latin words, 'poeta' ('maker') and 'licentia' ('to be permitted,' 'liberty'). The concept was encouraged by a Greek philosopher by the name of Aristotle (maybe you've heard of this dude?). In one of the first-ever treatise to describe poetry and literary theory, the philosopher referred to something called "poetic effect"-- which, today, we would call poetic license.
Ranking Wale's 4 Albums From Worst To Best
For years, we have tried to decode the enigma that is Wale. Rather than being lauded for his gift of gab, he's been overshadowed by his shill cries for acceptance. You see, Wale always had the skills to be a special artist in hip-hop. Nobody questioned his motor in the booth. Nobody questioned his scintillating wordplay. We just wanted him to make the best music that we thought he was capable of making. After being slapped with criticism by the hands of social media, he finally learned how to hit the mute button and focus on building himself up as an artist.
Top Five Jhene Aiko Features
Not a lot of people can captivate their listeners in the realm of R&B anymore. Do you remember when Mary J. Blige soulfully wowed us on Jay Z’s “Can’t Knock The Hustle”? Do you remember when Jamie Foxx channeled his inner Ray Charles on Kanye West’s “Gold Digger”? Times like that were special.

Drake's OVO Fest Will Not Receive Government Funding
In 2014, the Canadian government awarded Drake's OVO Fest $300,000, but, this year, it looks like funding for the Toronto festival will have to come out of OVO's pockets. Celebrate Ontario, the organization that awards grants to events like OVO Fest, just released its schedule of events, and the finances allocated to each, and Drake's two-day concert in downtown Toronto wasn't included on the list.
J. Cole Finally Presented With His College Degree
J. Cole graduated from St. John's university way back, but due to a never-returned library book, his degree was withheld from him. Last night, Cole returned to the university to play a show, and while he didn't bring the missing book with him, the school decided to waive the fee and present the rapper with his degree. The college is certainly happy to have Cole as a rep, as the rapper has not only found great success in the rap world, but also graduated Summa cum laude with a 3.82 GPA.
"The Mixtape About Nothing" Vs. "More About Nothing" Vs. "The Album About Nothing"
Wale's Projects About Nothing demonstrated his love for Seinfeld mixed in with a healthy dose of alternative hip hop. The Mixtape About Nothing kicked off the love affair with 19 tracks, mostly containing Best Kept Secret production, but the tape also had some music from The Roots, J Dilla, Lil Wayne, and The Budos Band for healthy measure.
Who Had The Better Verse: J. Cole Vs. Wale
Rap is the most competitive genre in music. For decades, artists reveled in competition because they wanted to prove that they were elite. Whenever a rapper elected to feature his or her peer on a track, both sides were trying to out-duel the other, simply for competitive reasons. Artists knew that for years to come, fans would debate about who outperformed who. That’s why when Kendrick Lamar delivered his “Control” verse, fans applauded his voracious stab at the industry. That’s why we love rap.

Top 5 "Shook Ones" Freestyles
Fabolous' latest giveaway is not your average freestyle--it was a major statement. Most rappers, wisely, would shy away from such a beat--"Shook Ones", the lead off Mobb Deep's legendary The Infamous. But Fabo gave it a good shot. The best? You decide.
