When you think about New York Hip Hop, unfortunately your mind is probably overrun with thoughts of what used to be. Even worse you would be hard pressed to run off a list of new names in even the smallest amount that have mad a major impact for the musical mecca in the last decade. Enter Harlem-bred lyricist, Hungry HD, a slick-tongued, calmly confident and witty emcee seemingly intent on changing our minds. Upon graduating college HD started to experience severe muscle atrophies in various parts of his body that caused him to lose movement in his left arm and eventually the ability to walk. He would spend 3 years, most of that time in a wheelchair, in & out of hospitals receiving treatment and therapy. Instead of breaking his spirits though, those lost 3 years only fueled his hunger for success. Last year Hungry HD released his debut project, “No Thanx 2 You hosted by DJ Suss One, which received over 20k downloads web-wide to date. The Mixtape gained him a fair amount of regional notoriety garnering him an interview with Jack Thriller on as well as features in Rhymes & Dimes and Hip Hop Weekly Magazines. Looking to build on that success, HD is back with a all new full-length project and what sounds to be undoubtedly his best work yet. Released on October 29th, ”Modesty’s End” claims features from (Rap Battle King) Loaded Lux, Haddy Racks, TB Whobetta, Ohene Cornelius & More. The video for the buzz single "Maple Fudge (Nobody Smiling)" has been well received on Youtube is a sure-fire stand out on the project. Creatively crafted, it plays just as raw as the name sounds paying serious homage to the authentic NYC hip-hop we all love and miss without being so nostalgic that it sounds outdated. Stating some of his influences to be Nas, Jay-Z, T.I. Method Man and Tupac, HD does a phenomenal job of evoking the feeling that era of emcees brought to the table all while still stamping his own identity on to every track. Your presence is humbly requested as we embark on a journey to bring fresh perspective to hip-hop music. "Modesty's End" is Available for FREE Now on Datpiff & HD's own website.
