G-Unit Talks "The Beast Is G-Unit" EP, Fake Love From Other Rappers
G-Unit is out on the road promotion their new EP The Beauty Of Independence. Stopping by Connecticut's Hot 9.31, Buck, Banks, Yayo and Kidd Kidd, addressed why their new projects don't have guest features. “I know a lot of [the love] is not genuine... I think a lot of it really is genuine when it comes from the fans,” Young Buck said. “From the artists, nah, I don’t know. It’s like I didn’t see none of you dudes rooting to try to get G-Unit back together when we were not together.”
G-Unit Cover XXL's Last Print Edition
Wow, sad day. This is going to be the last one of these posts that we'll ever do. Anyways, XXL's final print edition is about to hit the shelves, and the cover's just been revealed. G-Unit grace that cover. Having previously appeared on there in May of 2008 (sans Kidd Kidd, who made the cut this time), the Unit are here this time accompanied by the headline "Break Ups 2 Makes Ups Of Rap's Ultimate Crew."
Hands Up: Street Anthems 4 Justice
Hip-Hop emerged out of a collective struggle against oppression, poverty, and pain. Recently, rappers have been teaming up in order to promote an end to police brutality, even raising money for victims like Mike Brown, and spreading digital campaigns to promote awareness of the issue. This isn't the first time we've seen rappers speak up against violence in their music, so we've gathered several examples from recent times as well as the past in this list.
50 Cent: "If The Charts Mattered Now, I'd Quit"
Among a bevy of much poppier artists, G-Unit performed at this past weekend's iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas, and while backstage, the crew's de facto leader shared some of his thoughts on the gradual decline in record sales we've seen in the past few years.
Charts Don't Lie: September 7
We're currently awaiting first week sale numbers for Jeezy's new album, Seen It All, which is supposed to move around 90k-100k. Even though these are just projections at the moment, it's extremely unlikely The Snowman will be able to beat the sales of his last album TM:103 Hustlerz Ambition, which moved 233,000 copies when it dropped three years ago.
50 Cent Alleges That Olivia Used To Sleep With Missy Elliott
This morning, G-Unit visited Power 105.1 to sit in for The Breakfast Club, during which they discussed their reuniting and their group dynamic. Along with revealing an October release date for The Beast Is G-Unit, 50 Cent also spilled some beans on a past relationship between Missy Elliott and former G-Unit signee Olivia.
G-Unit Plans To Release Another EP [Update: New EP Title Revealed]
Earlier in the week, G-Unit sent shockwaves throughout the internet when they surprised fans with a new EP titled Beauty Of Independence. While it may have only hosted 6 records, the Unit announced on Wednesday that they have about another 50 records in stored for us, and will be using some of them for another EP again. Dope right?
Review: G-Unit's "The Beauty of Independence"
After he proved he was a bankable rapper, 50 Cent started his own imprint and made G-Unit his first priority. For a while Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, Young Buck and Fiddy were consistently putting out quality music that fed the streets.
Game Disses G-Unit During Live Show
Is there a beef bubbling between Game and his former crew G-Unit? In recent interviews with the rapper we've seen him give props to 50 for getting the Unit back together, but during a live show in L.A. he had something else to say about the crew.

50 Cent Speaks On Taunting Floyd Mayweather & Bringing G-Unit Back Together
50 Cent has been poking fun at boxing champion Floyd Mayweather over the course of the last week, claiming that Mayweather is unable to read and challenging him to a read off. The taunting continued for a few days on Fif's Instagram page.
G-Unit Releases A Surprise New EP, "The Beauty Of Independence"
Well, this is a welcome surprise. After releasing a steady stream of quality remixes--and two original tracks--over the past few months, G-Unit now returns with their first project since reuniting in June. Titled The Beauty Of Independence, the brand new EP hit iTunes at 11:30PM EST and features six brand new tracks from 50, Buck, Banks, Yayo, and Kidd. The album's clear highlight is "Changes," which features 50 addressing his breakup with Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine over a piano-laced instrumental. Look for production credits to make their way online soon.
Samples Of The Week: July 31
When hip-hop began, samples were all that DJs and producers had to construct instrumental tracks with. They'd dig through crates of vinyl trying to find isolated drum breaks, melodies or vocals that they could repurpose for use in hip-hop music. Today, sampling has become less common, but a choice sample can still push a track from lukewarm to hot faster than you can say "uh-huh honey".
The G-Unit Freestyles: Vote For Your Favorite
For the past two weeks, we've been polling you on your favorite versions of popular tracks. Last week Kevin Gates (somewhat surprisingly) took the cake in the "Cut Her Off" battle, and the week prior, G-Unit won the "0 To 100" contest by a landslide.

XXL just published a lengthy interview with Dipset Capo Jim Jones, and in it, he gives his strong opinions on a number of issues. Most notably, Jones addresses his crew's former beef with G-Unit, the Dipset comparisons A$AP Mob frequently gets, and The Diplomats' ongoing legacy. Check out the full thing here, and read excerpts below.
Many Men: A History Of G-Unit Beefs
Perhaps it would have been easier to make a list of every rapper that 50 and the crew haven't had any altercations with over the course of their 10 years in the game--it certainly would have required less writing.
50 Cent Just Sold A TV Show To Comedy Central
"Go 'head and switch the style up/And if they hate, then let 'em hate and watch the money pile up" is quickly becoming less of a lyric from 50 Cent's "In Da Club" and more of a mantra that the entrepreneur lives his life by. If you take "style" to mean "profession," Fif's switched it up a lot, going from rapping to acting to advertising to, most recently, executive producing the Starz show "Power." It seems like he's taken a liking to the TV production life, as he just announced that he sold a show to Comedy Central.
50 Cent Shares Further Details On G-Unit Mixtape & Album
G-Unit only reunited at the beginning of the month, but they already have a number of new tracks under their belt. While 50 initially announced plans for an album from the group, speculation arose in light of the freestyles that a mixtape may too be in the works. Fif confirmed this rumor last week, and in a new interview with MTV has shared a few more details concerning the projects..
G-Unit Dropping A New Mixtape Before Its Album?
We all know G-Unit is working on a new album for the fall, but could we be seeing a mixtape beforehand as well? According to Fif we are. In a new interview with Jenny Boom Boom, 50 Cent spoke on several issues going on his life right now, but the one thing that stuck out in the interview was the information retaining the upcoming G-Unit album, and mixtape. Yes, mixtape. Around the 17:40 mark, Fif reveals that the G-Unit album is due out late November/early December and they are also working on a new mixtape which we assume will come out before that.
Hip-Hop's Fashion Evolution
Jay Z made a song dedicated to Tom Ford last year, one of Harlem's hottest rappers wears strictly skinny jeans (A$AP Rocky), and one of the industry's most talked about rappers (Kanye West) is addicted to high-fashion. A little over a decade ago, the genre's finest openly wore baggy clothing, throwback jerseys, and du-rags. It's an understatement to say hip-hop's fashion sense has changed a bit.
