Edawn The Esoteric
- Partial (Prod. by Tochi)
My name is Edawn The Esoteric, name chosen because i feel like very few people can understand me and my methods. Music is a huge passion of mine....more than a passion, I call it spiritual nourishment. I prefers to keep my identity a mystery because I feel like it's not about me, it's about the music. I am but a vessel of communication. A middle man between the message and the people. I prefer to keep my identity a mystery at least for now because I want the focus to be on the feelings the music arouse in the listener, and not picturing the artist singing the words. I want to exercise people's imagination. 22 years Old. Nigerian. Passionate. Music is as essential to me as oxygen, and has been so for as long as I can remember. Growing up, i always had an uncanny affinity for music, i would pick up an instrument and just begin playing a song (usually "joy to world", my favorite song to play at the time), i could easily replicate sounds i had heard, and i wrote my first song at the age of 14. However, it wasn't until June 2013, that i realized that music is something i wanted to do. I had always been shy of sharing my art because it was so dear to me, but in June, i had an epiphany, in which i realized that it was ok to share such a heavy piece of myself with others. And here I am, doing just that, fulfilling my greatest dreams and opening my heart up to the world. Every song is heartfelt and written by me, every song is like a child to me. I'm not quite sure how many others share this with me, but music and I have an inexplicable bond. While many just hear or listen to music, i FEEL music. i feel it in my soul. The sounds i hear manifest itself physically in my stomach, on my skin, in my heart. When I am asked what music does to me, this is the image i believe comes the closest to describing the euphoria: Close your eyes. Now imagine that you are on a rocky beach in Ireland, at around 7pm on a warm summer night. You are standing right on the shore and to your left is large rock (perhaps a boulder). Imagine a huge wave crashing against that boulder, causing the water to spray all over your body, almost like a mist. Imagine that you can feel every mist hit your skin. Sounds exhilarating right? Well that is what i feel every time i listen to music, especially music that i love. With heavy influences from Erykah Badu, Amel Larrieux and India Arie, hopefully my music can give you that same Euphoric and exhilarating feeling.
