Of the many things that old heads will insist "were better back in the day," diss tracks are among the few that most younger rap fans can also agree upon. Even if you didn't live through them, the 2Pac / Biggie, Eazy-E / Dr. Dre and Jay Z / Nas beefs all produced shot-firing tracks that still loom large today-- Notorious' "Who Shot Ya" is still referenced by rappers all of the time, and Nas' "Ether" is now so baked into the foundation of rap that its title is now synonymous with a devastating diss.

That's right, the veteran R&B star turnt Furious 7 actor has landed his very first number one with his sixth studio album. Meanwhile, Meek Mill keeps the units moving, sticking close at the number three spot. Drake comes in at 9, while the other rap albums were shut out of the top ten once again. As we already know, Future is set to top next week's charts, which will make for yet another consecutive week where a rap or R&B album reigns supreme.

Drake's new track "Charged Up" can be viewed as his formal rebuttal to Meek Mill's Twitter tirade against him this week. Meek was not impressed.  "Baby lotion soft," he tweeted. And then 25 minutes later, perhaps after another couple listens, he tweeted out, "I can tell he wrote that 1 one tho..." In terms of both lyrical insults and intensity of delivery, Drake did not go hard as, say, Kendrick Lamar's verse on "Control."

Taking to twitter, 40 reminds everyone that Quentin Miller was indeed credited on Drake’s last album, If You're Reading This It's Too Late, making him not much of a ghostwriter at all.
