Meek Mill's twitter rant seems to have the whole rap twittersphere in a tizzy. We've also heard about a disproportional amount of beef these past two days, from Action Bronson vs. Ghostface Killah, to Nicki Minaj vs.

Last night we had a bit unexpected excitement, when Meek Mill went off on our twitter timelines, dissing Drake in the process. As for what triggered the rant in the first place, it seems like Meek feels as though he's not getting the respect he deserves.

Meek Mill has never been afraid to voice his opinion on social media, and boy did he do that on Tuesday night. Feeling some type of way, Meek decided to fire off not only Nicki's ex boyfriend, Safaree “SB” Samuels, but more so on his "R.I.C.O." collaborator Drake.

Here's a story that needs to be recognized and done more often. On Monday night, Drake took to Instagram to deliver a heartfelt message to a young fan who tragically passed away recently. 17-year old Jamal Utton, who was a huge fan of Drake, suddenly passed away last week during a rugby tour in Canada. Using the hashtag #DrakeNoticeJamal, fans & friends were able to get Drake’s attention on social media and have the OVO rapper send some condolences to Jamal and his mourning family. Drizzy wrote:

Does Drake Season ever end? The rapper continues to keep a chokehold on the rap game, from his participation in Apple Music's Beats 1 radio, to his co-sign remixes, to his features, the rapper can seemingly do no wrong.

In a new interview with the New York Times, Eminem stated his belief that hip hop is in a good place in 2015. The interview mostly addressed Eminem's role and experience working on the soundtrack for the upcoming 50 Cent-produced film Southpaw, but also took the time to share his opinion on the state of the genre. Today's a big day for album releases, although the most anticipated is Future's DS 2. Apart from Future taking over this week with his documentary series and general excitement for Dirty Sprite 2, Drake had a pretty big week when he debuted three different remixes on his Apple Beats 1 radio show. One of those songs, the WizKid remix, appears on today's Staff Picks playlist.

Since launching earlier this month, Apple Music has swept the rug from under TIDAL’s feet and made a markedly successful splash, delivering a diverse catalogue of options for their new Beats Radio 1 feature. Providing 24/7 entertainment and quality-listening for such a large market can be challenging, but Apple has pulled it off-- especially when it comes to options for hip-hop fans.

Since the defection and lawsuit of former right-hand man Lil Wayne at the top of 2015, Birdman has been taking one L after another. He has few if any reputed allies left, and evidence strongly suggests that neither Nicki Minaj nor Drake will be returning to Cash Money once their contracts expire. Let's look back at the first half of 2015 through the lens of Birdman-related fiascos.

We didn't get a new Drake project yesterday, but we pretty much got the next best thing. During OVO Sound's debut Beats 1 radio show, Champagne Papi premiered three new songs (most of them remixes) amidst sets by Oliver El Khatib and Eric Dingus. After the dust settled on all of that, though, we got something a little more cryptic with the potential to be even more exciting. Out of nowhere, a date (September 24) appeared on OVO's website without any explanation.

It'll be almost exactly two years since the release of Kiss Land when The Weeknd's second proper studio album, Beauty Behind The Madness, hits stores, and much has changed in the world of Abel Tesfaye. A collaboration with Ariana Grande, and the Michael Jackson-channeling "I Can't Feel My Face" have found the singer approaching traditional pop songwriting with the help of Max Martin, and proved him capable of playing the charismatic frontman role as well as the disconnected R&B outsider he introduced himself as.

It all seemed like fantastic, luxurious, one-percent-y fun and games during the initial TIDAL press conference. Music mogul Sean “Jay-Z” Carter’s launched his rebranding of the year-old streaming service he had recently acquired by strutting out stars of meteoric magnitude, both young and old, shuffled out like battling champions in a proverbial game of thrones. Like a "Song of Ice and Fire," the words burned like an effigy as the music industry (critics, artists, and fans alike) were urged to brace themselves for something new.
