Bronx native, Denice Perez aka Dannie Swift, is a young talented triple threat, whom is on the verge of super stardom. While living in New Jersey, she has polished her skills to become a prolific writer, rapper/mc, and guitarist. She began as a poet at the age of 6 and developed her skills to become a rapper unlike any female artist in the hip-hop industry. Influenced by artists such as Eminem, Fiona Apple, and Lauryn Hill, Dannie Swift believed her interest in music to go beyond the confines of lyricism so she began to branch off and developed a yearning for the ability to play an instrument. Her first ground breaking performance happened her junior year of high school. “That’s when I knew I wanted to be a musician,” she said. “The way I weaved the audience into my narrative, it was an amazing experience.” After that she went on to compete in many talent and rap competitions, winning her various first place medals. Her senior year she picked up a guitar for the first time and in three months she already put together a compilation of songs. After graduating West Side High School and attending Rutgers Newark College, she decided to put all her efforts into her passion.
