Armed with the true essence of Hip Hop as well with the determination to be heard Damaja D delivers with an undeniable talent. Growing up in a world called Brooklyn, life's experiences made him strong. But then his decision to attend an African centered outreach high school in Bushwick is what made him even Stronger! Labeling himself "a modern day Griot ", Damaja D writes with the intentions of educating, enlightening and evolving his listeners. Believing in the power of spoken word he challenges all that is "main stream" and those alike. Never denying the energy of the main stream, Damaja is able to match and elevate this force. He describes his music as having the Medicine in the applesauce affect. Sounding and feeling like industry material but with a hint of empowerment and knowledge. Damaja D set out to create timeless music along side the greats in who he is influenced by like Bob Marley, Micheal Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Tupac Shakur and more. The name Damaja D represents his motto "Destroy to Rebuild!". As his form of artistic execution destroys the misconception of today's Hip hop artist and rebuilds the strength and potential of who we knew to be MC's ( Master of Ceremonies). Damaja strives for longevity and growth for the Hip Hop genre and generation.
