- The Wa$$up Feat. Roy$e
"When He blew life into me, He must've been whistling." A bold, yet central personal belief held by a young versatile Austin Royce Richason looking to share it. Roy$e a.k.a DOLLASIGNe has grown to create a contemporary hip hop sound that seems to merge the likes of Kanye West, Timbaland, Outkast, Black Eyed Peas, and Lupe Fiasco. It's an uplifting universal sound that's distinguished simply through the natural sincerity of its maker. After putting together a small home studio ("The Sound-Square") in a small corner of his Denver, Colorado basement ("The DEN"), Roy$e found a big sound successfully developing a versatile aptitude for creating songs through self-taught writing, producing, recording, and engineering. Growing up in a humble, God-fearing, southern-bred household, he was initially influenced by both the soulful classics of his parent's youth, and all the popular trends of east Denver. But it was starting his own DJ business at 14 that really opened him up to the full spectrum of music, allowing him to draw inspiration from all types of songs and genres. With mentors like Run-D.M.C, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and Michael Jackson, Roy$e is in pursuit of the same classic hit-making status as his legendary predecessors. When asked, "What is music to you?" Roy$e responded,"Music is Love. And I thank Love for it everyday."
