Other than some resurfacing beefs (between Young Thug and The Game, and Rick Ross and Birdman, respectively) and the beginning of what is sure to be another drawn-out, highly-publicized Kanye West album rollout, it was a relatively quiet week, especially as far as full-length releases went.

Charts Don't Lie: February 10
The Billboard 200 Chart shifted considerably over the past week, leaving artists like Tank in the dust as the likes of Rihanna and Kevin Gates rose to take the #1 and #2 positions, respectively. Rihanna's album, which debuted at #27 last week, claimed the #1 position we all expected it to have. The reasoning for the weak debut was on a technicality, but now that the album is properly available, it moved nearly 125,000 units.
Charts Don't Lie: February 3
In case you missed it, the RIAA updated their formula for calculating Gold and Platinum Album certifications yesterday. While it helped a few artist reach Platinum, today we see if it has shaken up the charts in any significant way. We’re now counting the total combined streams, single and album sales as “total album equivalent units” (TAEU, for short), as driven by changes to Billboard’s new rating system.

Chris Brown Does A Front Flip To Win $5,000 Bet With French Montana
Though French Montana's pockets aren't hurting too badly, Chris Brown nabbed what was likely the easiest $5,000 of his life off the Coke Boys boss. French, Breezy, and their good friend Scott Disick, who appeared next to both artists in Breezy's recent "Picture Me Rollin" video, were at a house party, and French was feeling in the gambling mood, as he decided to bet Brown $5,000 that he couldn't do a front flip on the spot.

It threatened to burn down LAX Saturday night, during a music video shoot for their soon-to-be smash single "Work."

Christmas is always a big week for album sales, and we saw a few releases dropping December 18th, just in time for last minute gifts. Chris Brown's Royalty certainly seemed to benefit from the strategy, coming in with a big week, despite not earning the usual smash single that precedes Brown's albums. Pusha T's prelude album Darkest Before Dawn was a little lower down at 20, but seeing as its just a warm-up for the GOOD Music president's proper album, King Push, it's not too bad of a placement.

The first-week sales numbers for Chris Brown's Royalty are in, and though Breezy's seventh album performed even better than was expected -- selling 184,000 units -- it did not top the charts. Review: Chris Brown's "Royalty"
Listening to Chris Brown records is a bit more involved an activity than ingesting your average pop album. Listeners are required to constantly do mental arithmetic, weighing variables like catchiness and artistic merit to determine if their need to listen > the knowledge that Chris Brown has done some heinous things and your listens are enabling him, albeit in a very small way.
