#TBT: Early Busta Rhymes
Before Busta Rhymes was jacked, he was skinny. Before he was bald, he had dreadlocks. Before he was collaborating with Lil Wayne, he was with the likes of Q-Tip and J Dilla.

Souls Of Mischief Announce New Album, Share Tracklist
Bay Area OGs Souls Of Mischief (best known for their 1993 album/song "'93 'Til Infinity") have just announced that they'll return with their first album in five years on August 26th. There Is Only Now is the name of the 19 track concept album, which centers around a fictional radio station where A Tribe Called Quest's Ali Shaheed Muhammad plays the DJ, acting as a narrator for the album.
Samples Of The Week: July 3rd
When hip-hop began, samples were all that DJs and producers had to construct instrumental tracks with. They'd dig through crates of vinyl trying to find isolated drum breaks, melodies or vocals that they could repurpose for use in hip-hop music. Today, sampling has become less common, but a choice sample can still push a track from lukewarm to hot faster than you can say "uh-huh honey".

Classic Rotation: Busta Rhymes' "The Coming"
Like many others who grew up long after the Native Tongues era of NY rap, my first exposure to a young Busta Rhymes came on A Tribe Called Quest’s bombastic single “Scenario.” The Low End Theory closing track featured Rhymes’ group Leaders Of The New School (who along with Tribe, De La Soul, Black Sheep, and Jungle Brothers formed the NT collective) in a cypher-esque sequence of oneupmanship that concluded with one of the greatest verses ever laid to wax.
Meet J-Doe: Conglomerate Records' Next-Up
You probably know O.T. Genasis as the new face of Busta Rhyme's Conglomerate Records. Busta's first signee, though, is another L.A. guy, J-Doe, who's had years of industry experience under his belt. You might remember his 2011 hit, "Coke, Dope, Crack, Smack," or more likely, the remix and video, which featured T-Pain and David Banner. Though the titles of both of the Conglomerate signee's biggest hits are similar, J-Doe is a whole different kind of rapper.
Classic Rotation: A Tribe Called Quest's "The Low End Theory"
One of the many beauties of hip hop is that it's constantly in conversation with other genres, whether due to sampling, collaboration, or just inspiration. Formed on a bedrock of R&B, funk, and disco samples, it quickly became more omnivorous, and many of its watershed moments have come when combined with other styles in new, unheard-of ways. Take Rick Rubin and Terminator X's mining of hard rock records in the '80s, Dr.
Review: Busta Rhymes & Q-Tip's "The Abstract & The Dragon"
Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes' new 28-track mixtape The Abstract & The Dragon plays like a documentary that any serious hip-hop head would enjoy - with its numerous remixes and skits, it's a welcome throwback to the traditional mixtape format. That being said, the tape may fall short for younger rap fans and/or advocates of the new school who prefer the turnt up trap approach to dusty New York classicism. This is an acquired taste, and although many of us were expecting something more original, this nostalgia trip is dope nonetheless.

From time, Busta Rhymes has been one of the most energetic performers in Hip-Hop. The energy and creativity also translated well when making music videos. With a new album on the way, we hope to see more of his wacky ideas come to life in his visuals. Here's a list of some of the most creative music videos he's done so far. Let us know which video is your favorite!

During a recent interview with VladTV, Los Angeles emcee/producer Scoop Deville broke down the upcoming collaboration between Busta Rhymes and Eminem, which he produced. It'll appear on the former's new album Extinction Level Event 2. "That's the next record that's going to, I'd say, destroy the streets of New York and hip-hop in a lot of ways," Deville said. "That record is something that we've been putting together for a minute. It's not just like an overnight thing. We've been trying to make this THE record to bring back Busta in a major way."
Busta Rhymes Reveals New Album Title
Busta Rhymes has been talking about his long-awaited Cash Money album for some time. Earlier this year, he described the effort as a boom-bap album, but later dropped the of-the-moment track "Twerk It" as the first single, so it's hard to know what to expect from the album at this point.

Recording Studio Sues Busta Rhymes For $70,300 Over Unpaid Bill
It's a well-known fact that rappers love to be in the studio all day, every day, especially at weird times of the day. This can also be a costly venture, if you have to pay for studio time. Busta Rhymes is finding out just how costly it can get, in a new lawsuit from Paramount Recording Studios. Apparently Bussa Bus hasn't paid his bills, and owes the studio a massive amount of money. They're suing the rapper for $70,300.

Busta Rhymes apparently has quite the temper when he doesn't get his food served just right, or fast enough. It's possible alcohol fueled his temper, as the rapper reportedly flipped out at the late-night burger joint, Cheeseburger Baby, in South Beach Miami early this morning.
