Bun B & Lil B Dispute The Origins Of The "Cooking Dance"
During last year's NBA Playoffs, Lil B accused Houston Rockets guard James Harden of allegedly "stealing" his "cooking dance." As Harden continued to cook upon celebratory moments, Lil B placed his infamous Based God "curse" on Harden, whose team proceeded to lose to Lil B's home team, the Golden State Warriors. Lil B recently took credit for the Rockets' recent firing of head coach Kevin McHale, and Houston OG Bun B has responded by denying any possibility of the Based God's curse.
#TBT: Swizz Beatz-Produced Bangers
When you think of club-ready hip hop music that was bumpin' from 2000-2010, Swizz Beatz is one of the elite names that should come to mind. The Bronx producer-DJ-rapper-fashionista-artist can virtually do anything under the sun, but he was at his most potent through the aforementioned years when he was producing rap bangers for the likes of Jay Z, T.I., DMX, and many more.
Bun B and Pimp C are two of Texas rap's biggest names. When they blessed the beat together as UGK, they were unstoppable. Formed in 1987, the Underground Kings released six LPs of original music along with many more EPs, mixtapes, and big-time features, including spots on Jay Z's "Big Pimpin'" and Three 6 Mafia's "Sippin' on Some Syrup."

Hip-Hop Reacts To The Death Of Freddie Gray & Baltimore Riots
On April 12, 25-year-old Freddie Gray was arrested in Baltimore for possession of a switchblade, though it's still not clear why he was pursued in the first place. Police claim Gray was apprehended without force, though bystanders have suggested otherwise, and video evidence shows Gray screaming while being forced into the police's van. What happened next is still being investigated, though by the time Gray arrived at the police station, he was unresponsive, unable to talk or breathe.

AARP: Best Rappers Over 40
Isn't it crazy how some rappers just refuse to retire? Take Jay Z for example, he retired about a decade ago and that lasted all of no time at all. It's hard to put down something you truly love, and even though rap is a young man's sport, this list is dedicated to those who hardly age.

Charts Don’t Lie: November 24
This week we have two new-comers on Charts Don't Lie, the first being buzzing singer Jhene Aiko and the latter, veteran in the game, Bun B. Jhene Aiko pulled pretty good numbers for her debut EP, leaving us hopeful for what's to come from the West Coast native. Her buzz will only continue to climb leading up to the release of her debut album, Soul(ed) Out, and so dropping the EP was definitely a good look for the singer. The EP was projected to move 25-30k, but surpassed 30k with 33,000 units opening week.
Bun B Says Houston Rap Relies Too Heavily On DJ Screw's Legacy
Although reluctant at first, Bun B has readily accepted the title of "OG". The Houston rap legend explained his embrace of the term in a recent interview with Power 105's Breakfast Club, in which he discussed his early struggles as a Southern rap artist, his break on Jay Z's "Big Pimpin'," as well as the tropes of current Houston music. "We had to fight the hard fight." Bun said of UGK's attempts to break through in a New York dominated industry. "It wasn't as hard as the Geto boys and the people who came before us."
