While DJ Khaled has been repping as hard as humanly possible for We The Best over the last few years, the imprint has thus far been living underneath Cash Money as an imprint. However, the always-entertaining DJ revealed in an interview with the Breakfast Club today that his official ties to the label are no more."I'm not signed to Cash Money at all," he said. "It's not like I'm here to promote that I've been off. No, I'm not that type of person.

He posted the video announcement to his Facebook, and he was quick to clarify: "This is a peaceful situation."

Forbes Names Hip Hop's Five Wealthiest Artists Of 2015
    May 5, 2015 at 11:28am
In recent times, Forbes' annual list of hip hop's five wealthiest artists has become less of a race and more of an established pantheon, and this year's no different. With the exception of two artists switching between the fourth and fifth spots, 2015's list is identical to last year's. With the exception of Bridman (who moved from fourth to fifth place on the list), everyone is worth more this year.

Rich Homie Quan was the latest guest on ESPN's "Highly Questionable", on which the rapper talked about his rough come-up (robbing houses four times a week), sports--he considers himself the rap-game Steve Smith, and his fallout with former Rich Gang partner Young Thug.

Another album released a day early? After Tyler, The Creator and others dropped their projects a day before the originally-announced date, Young Thug has followed suit with Barter 6. The album's just shown up on iTunes, although it might only be available to purchase in New Zealand for the time being. Check out the tracklist below, and head over here to cop the album (or at least attempt to cop it).

Young Thug is officially one of the most polarizing figures in the rap game. He's making headlines multiple times a week, releasing tons of music, and whether you love him or hate him, you probably have an opinion. Few dudes have come up to be this prominent, this quick.

Scrolling through the comments on a Young Thug Instagram post is an experience like no other, even in an age when being able to hide behind a computer screen has made disparaging trolls out of nearly all of us. A simple photo of Thugger in an all-red outfit, posted three days ago, currently has about 1000 comments, most of them negative, and about a third of which focus on his perceived homosexuality.

Lil Wayne Moves His Cash Money Lawsuit To New Orleans
    Apr 7, 2015 at 04:48pm
Earlier today, we posted that Lil Wayne had dropped his $51 million lawsuit against Birdman and Cash Money Records. According to Wayne's lawyer, Ron Sweeney, however, the lawsuit is still on. Wayne still plans to sue Cash Money for the same price of $51 million, though the case has been moved from New York to New Orleans.

Ranking Lil Wayne's 13 Mixtapes From Worst To Best
    Apr 7, 2015 at 12:30pm
Lil Wayne didn't get the nickname "Mixtape Weezy" for nothing. Over the course of hip-hop history, very few artists have used the art of the mixtape to their advantage as well as Weezy F. It's helped to blow up the likes of Wiz Khalifa, A$AP Rocky and even Drake over the past decade, but Wayne's 13 mixtapes came when he was already a star. He didn't need the tapes to become a star, but they certainly propelled him in to GOAT territory by simply crushing the output of his competitors.

Though we're still awaiting the Free Weezy Album any time now, it appears the situation between Lil Wayne and Birdman isn't as dire as we once thought. Over two months after filing suit, reports now say Wayne has decided to drop the $51 million lawsuit against his mentor and record label.

Juvenile Shares His Thoughts On Birdman/Lil Wayne Situation
    Mar 5, 2015 at 05:09pm
This past October, Juvenile returned to the label he was raised on by inking a deal with Cash Money. A few months later, the turmoil began between Lil Wayne and Birdman, and by extension, Young Money and Cash Money. Weezy has since sued Birdman for a hefty sum, and it doesn't seem like a resolution between the former partners will happen any time soon. Unfortunately, that means that quite a few artists on their roster are stuck in the middle.

Nicki Minaj Felt Disrespected By Tyga Over "Truffle Butter" Leak, Is Banking On Lil Wayne & Birdman Working Things Out
    Mar 5, 2015 at 03:00pm
There's a whole lot of drama going on at Cash Money these days, but for the most part, there's only a couple of major figures we've heard from directly. Lil Wayne and Tyga have made their feelings clear, but artists like Nicki Minaj and Drake have been less clear about taking sides (though conspiracy theories suggest Drizzy's whole new tape could be read as a middle finger to Birdman). In an interview with BBC Radio 1 Xtra's Charlie Sloth today, Nicki spoke a bit about the situation, and it seems like she'll be letting things play out for the meantime.

Turk Reportedly Suing Cash Money For $1.3 Million [Update: Cash Money Has Three Weeks To Respond]
    Feb 21, 2015 at 07:03pm
As a former member of Hot Boys, Turk's fortunes didn't exactly pan out like Lil Wayne's after the group fell apart. It looks like him and Weezy still have a few things in common though, because they're both looking to sue Cash Money. With Wayne currently asking Birdman's label for some $51 million in damages related to a delayed Carter V release date, Turk's suit pales in comparison, but is still pretty substantial.

50 Cent has an opinion on just about everything, and usually it's as controversial and troll-like as humanly possible, however, his thoughts on Lil Wayne and Birdman's current issues were uncharacteristically level-headed for Fif. The rapper explained to MTV News that due to their relationship, the conflict is much like a familial one, and he feels that it will eventually end in forgiveness.

A History Of YMCMB Label Drama
    Feb 17, 2015 at 06:18pm
Cash Money is an indisputable empire, and at the helm, sits Birdman--and, behind the scenes, his brother Slim. In its nearly 25 years of existence, Cash Money has become one of the most successful hip-hop labels of all-time, though many of its living legends look back on their Cash Money days with disdain. When Cash Money and Young Money joined forces, the empire looked to be unstoppable. Now, it looks as though they'll split apart or crumble together. The recent grievances aired by YMCMB's biggest star aren't the first.
