Despite the fact you'll rarely catch them on MTV, music videos are more prevalent than ever, especially in rap. With that being said, there's a whole lot more to wade through, so we've decided to go through them and pick some of the best videos of the new year.

Charts Don’t Lie: March 15
This week we’re seeing a new entry with G-Unit’s The Beast Is G-Unit EP hitting the charts. Although it moved under 20k opening week, we doubt the Unit is too upset. 50 Cent had mentioned in a previous interview that the whole reason they kicked off their reunion with EPs was to relieve some of the pressure of dropping an album, and it not doing numbers—basically, it’s easier to start with EPs and work their way towards that album that’ll have a big opening week.

This week, we learned that you should not appropriate rap lyrics if you're a breakfast food chain — lest you want Nicki Minaj to call you out. It was an educational week in rap, actually.

He's collaborated with Skrillex most recently on the Jack Ü project. He's collaborated with tons of artists in the hip hop world, along with pop and rock worlds too. He's done work with Justin Bieber, Die Antwoord, Beyonce and Iggy Azealia, and that just shows off his ranger. His best work has been with the likes of M.I.A., 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, among others.
Big Sean Talks About The Benefits Of Recording "Dark Sky Paradise" In His Home Studio
While opinions of Big Sean may still be mixed, one thing people seem to be able to agree on is that Dark Sky Paradise is a major step up from the rapper's previous studio albums. A few things fell into place that ensured the record would be Sean's best yet, including a bonafide hit, and Kanye as an active participant in it's recording, but a major part of the reason the record came together so well for Sean was being able to record in the comfort of his own home, which he explained in an interview with Tim Westwood.

Kanye wept. Drake reigned. Dark Sky Paradise happened. This week in hip-hop can be summarized in those three tersely worded sentences.
Review: Big Sean's "Dark Sky Paradise"
Critics are always fighting conflicting urges. On the one hand, there's the need to be objective and evaluate each work on its own merits. On the other, there's the desire to fit each new release from an artist into an over-arcing career narrative. The trick is to find a balance between the two.
Samples Of The Week: February 26 (Big Sean Edition)
Dark Sky Paradise dropped earlier this week, with Big Sean set to move just under 150,000 copies, and now comes time to break it down on "Samples Of The Week."
