2016 MTV VMA Nominations Announced
MTV has announced the nominees for the 2016 Video Music Awards. Beyonce earned a whopping 11 nominations. The artist with the second most nominations is Adele, who earned eight, seven of which are for "Hello." Ariana Grande (5), Drake (4), and Rihanna (4) could also be lined up for a big night. It's a pretty good week for rap artists on the Billboard charts. Drake was able to reclaim the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 from previous owners Blink-182, and ScHoolboy Q managed to fend off the pop-punk band as well, nabbing a very respectable #2 debut with his new album Blank Face LP. Mike WiLL Explains Swae Lee's Role In Writing Beyonce's "Formation"
Not long after Beyonce's politically-charged video for "Formation" hit VEVO, the official writing credits were released, revealing that Rae Sremmurd hook-master Swae Lee had contributed to the record. On reassessment, it was clear that Swae's slinky rasp cadence was present throughout the record, but of course, it was impossible to determine exactly what he wrote specifically. According to a new interview with Mike WiLL, who produced the track, and has mentored the the Sremms from the beginning, Swae came up with the main concept for the song in one line.

Sunday night's BET Awards was one of the show's best iterations in years. Paak -- and that doesn't even include any of the Prince tributes, which were bountiful and glorious. Sadly, the scheduled D'Angelo Prince tribute never came to pass. The 6 God is showing no signs of slowing down, and even a new release from Nick Jonas and a surge from The Cast of Hamilton couldn't dethrone him, although they were enough to nudge Beyonce back a couple spots. Elsewhere, the list looks very similar to previous weeks: Rihanna sticking at the #6 spot, appearances from Kanye, Prince, Bryson Tiller, G-Eazy, and The Weeknd.

VIEWS, LEMONADE, ANTI, and ISLAH hold down the top four spots in our feature, and each of the releases fall within the top 20 spots on Billboard's 200 chart.
