8 Must-See Hip-Hop Tours This Summer
The summer concert season is quickly approaching, as we close out the month of April. It’s comparable to Christmas for avid music fans. It doesn’t get much better than beautiful weather complimented by beautiful people dancing to bass-laden tunes. Excess amounts of cheap alcohol and THC add to the excitement at summer concerts.
Rappers Share Their Smoking Preferences For 4/20
Today may not be a government-mandated holiday, but for those who advocate a green lifestyle, it's just as important as any other statutory holiday. Rap music has a special niche for all the weed smokers out there, however it's really transcended that niche genre and has become pretty common-place. Every other song has a reference (or three) about lighting up/rolling up/smoking up. It's safe to say we don't need a reason to smoke, but hey, we'll take one.
Charts Don't Lie: April 4
While there were a couple of debuts this week, the top 2 albums were not able to be unseated. Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly is still sitting comfortably atop the charts, while the Empire soundtrack trails not-so-far behind. Both Action Bronson and Earl Sweatshirt had their opening weeks, with Bronsolino edging out his Odd Future competitor by a good 5 spots on the Billboard 200. Elsewhere, releases from Big Sean, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and J. Cole, continued to accumulate sales, with a couple of them edging their way toward platinum status.

Samples Of The Week: March 26 (Action Bronson Edition)
This Monday, Action Bronson dropped his madcap, adventurous debut album Mr. Wonderful. Although it was a little less sample-driven than his prior mixtapes, its live instrumentation was still often based around skeletons of existing songs taken from far-flung genres, as is Bam Bam's habit. We've already covered "Easy Rider," "Actin Crazy," "Terry" and "Baby Blue" in previous editions of Samples Of The Week, so this time we're putting some of the deeper cuts under the source-material lens. Let us know your favorite tracks in the comments section.
Review: Action Bronson's "Mr. Wonderful"
Action Bronson’s new album is a bid to be considered the funniest man in hip hop. A week after Kendrick Lamar’s album has the entire culture debating race, politics, and society, Mr. Wonderful reminds us that sometimes rap can also be about wicked-funny punch lines and ridiculous one-liners as much as it can attempt to impact culture itself. It’s that joke your friend makes to lighten the mood while your other two buddies are about to come to fisticuffs.
Action Bronson & Earl Sweatshirt First Week Sales Projections
Action Bronson's Mr. Wonderful was much heavier on the promo side than its same-day release partner I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside, but despite that, the two are neck-in-neck when it comes to sales.
Action Bronson Is Mr. Wonderful
As a former gourmet chef of Albanian and Jewish descent who raps over a Tracy Chapman guitar riff at most of his shows, Action Bronson has always been a unique presence in hip-hop. Never has this been more pronounced, though, than at last week’s South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. Despite the chaos that goes along with an estimated 2,300 rappers, bands and artists converging in a city with less than 900,000 residents, SXSW isn’t quite the free-for-all, indie-championing event that it advertises itself as.

The 10 Most Ridiculous Scenes In Action Bronson's "Mr. Wonderful"
The cover to Action Bronson's new album, Mr. Wonderful, shows an illustration of Bronson spread-eagle perched atop a golden staircase. It's inspired by a scene from the 1988 American kung-fu film Bloodsport, in which the main character sits in the same pose overlooking Hong Kong as he prepares for battle. Indeed, much of Mr. Wonderful is inspired by cinema.

10 Must-See SXSW 2015 Showcases
Every March, the relatively small city of Austin, Texas bursts at the seams for a few weeks to host South by Southwest (SXSW), a music, arts and film festival put on in venues around the downtown. Thousands of artists and industry folk alike make the trek down south, and so the festival's schedule is a jam-packed, often chaotic affair. As the music kicks off in just a little over a week, we're breaking down the ten most promising showcases that have been announced thus far, including two we're sponsoring.
