Who Had The Better Verse: Black Hippy (Group Edition)
After years of embarking on a grueling journey to stardom, Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Schoolboy Q, and Jay Rock finally made it. They came up from nothing and are now swimming in the pools of success. Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q both stunned with their respective albums and have forged lanes of their own as Cali's most talented artists. Ab-Soul and Jay Rock aren't lame duck emcees either and can tango with any of your favorite rappers. With the burgeoning development of Isaiah Rashad and SZA, TDE looks to stay on top for years to come.
Quiz: Which TDE Rapper Are You?

This week, it dropped:
Ab-Soul Explains The Story Behind "W.W.S.D."
A little under two weeks ago, Ab-Soul surprised us all by dropping a track entitled "W.W.S.D." out of the blue. The one-off track bore similar artwork to his album These Days, but its sonic characteristics couldn't have been more different from the album's overall character.
Samples Of The Week: October 2
When hip-hop began, samples were all that DJs and producers had to construct instrumental tracks with. They'd dig through crates of vinyl trying to find isolated drum breaks, melodies or vocals that they could repurpose for use in hip-hop music. Today, sampling has become less common, but a choice sample can still push a track from lukewarm to hot faster than you can say "uh-huh honey". This week, see who Ab-Soul, OnCue and Rick Ross & Stalley sampled on their recent tracks, all of which can be found on HNHH.

Ab-Soul is currently on the road for his first headlining tour, promoting his new album These Days... The rapper is hitting stops all along the East and West Coasts, but of course, we have to rep our own, and we're giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky winner for Soulo's upcoming show at the Irving Plaza on October 6th.
Ab-Soul Announces "These Days" Tour
After releasing his album These Days... back in June, TDE's resident conspiracy theorist, Ab-Soul, has remained relatively quiet, save for a few tracks he did with Statik Selektah. Now it looks like Soulo was taking a short break between the promo/release cycle and a tour, as he just announced the "These Days" tour, which kicks off in September and so far includes 40 dates.
Curren$y Reveals Ab-Soul, French Montana, Wiz Khalifa & More Featured On "Pilot Talk 3"
Curren$y recently had a show out in DC, and we were able to catch up with him after the show for a sit-down about his highly anticipated Pilot Talk 3 album. Charts Don't Lie: July 6
Last week we saw r'n'b/pop take over the Billboard 200, and this week we finally see the return of rap to some of the top spots within the Billboard 200. Impressively, G-Eazy's third studio album comes in highest this week nabbing the #3 spot. Obviously his grind is starting to pay off, as the independent artist sold 46,000 units opening week, basically matching the numbers Fif's Animal Ambition did (he did 47k, to be precise). Following behind G-Eazy is TDE's lyrical MC Ab-Soul.
First Week Sales For Ab-Soul, G-Eazy & Riff Raff Are Here
Several independent rap releases made their way on to the Billboard charts this past week, with Ab-Soul, RiFF RaFF and G-Eazy all dropping new albums in recent times. The debut numbers for each artist have arrived today, and G-Eazy's These Things Happen LP managed to come out on top of the others. Surprised or nah?
Review: Ab-Soul's "These Days..."
Ab-Soul is a complex artist. The Carson, California native and Top Dawg Entertainment signee has overcome a number of major tribulations throughout the course of his life. And while all artists experience ups-and-downs that become points of growth for them as people while shaping the music they create, Ab-Soul's ups-and-downs are unique to most. On his deeply moving, autobiographical track "Book of Soul", featured on his second album Control System, Ab touches on his David vs.
Stream Ab-Soul's "These Days..."
Here it is, the moment every TDE fan has been waiting for: the stream of Ab-Soul's long-awaited These Days... The album leaked in entirety yesterday, so it appears that Soulo wanted to counter the leak with a SoundCloud stream of his own -- check it out below.

While we anxiously await Ab-Soul's new album, These Days..., which officially drops in four days, TDE's CEO took to Twitter to answer a few questions fans had about the LP and in the process he revealed (or at least hinted at) who will be dropping the next project on the Top Dawg label.
Ab-Soul Wants Dr. Dre To Let Black Hippy Make "Detox"
Ab-Soul, Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, and Jay Rock are all forces to be reckoned with on their own, but when they come together like Voltron to form Black Hippy, it's something truly special. A full length project from the group has always been hinted at, but it seems things are still up in the air at this point. In a new interview with SkeeTV, Ab-Soul spoke of how Black Hippy came together, as well as his idea that the group could take the reigns on Dr. Dre's long-delayed album, Detox.
Samples Of The Week: June 19
When hip-hop began, samples were all that DJs and producers had to construct instrumental tracks with. They'd dig through crates of vinyl trying to find isolated drum breaks, melodies or vocals that they could repurpose for use in hip-hop music. Today, sampling has become less common, but a choice sample can still push a track from lukewarm to hot faster than you can say "uh-huh honey".

Ab-Soul Says He Recorded Majority Of "These Days..." At Mac Miller's House
Ab-Soul delivered a banger yesterday which featured ScHoolboy Q, "Hunnid Stax." Although Mac Miller wasn't credited on the track, mid-record you can hear Mac drop a few slow-paced bars before the track picks up pace again. Now in a new interview with XXL, Soulo reveals that Mac Miller's L.A.
