  • If You Love Me 3000
    If You Love Me 3000
Keeping his weekly #MixtapeMonday series alive, DJ Absolut decides to return to the scene today with another new posse cut titled “If You Love Me 3000” featuring AZ, Ransom, and Loaded Lux.
  • Grew Up A Screw Up (Freestyle)
Grew Up A Screw Up (Freestyle)
It’s been a minute since NYC legend AZ last impacted our front pages, but luckily that all changes here tonight. Linking up DJ Absolut for a new freestyle for his #MixtapeMondays series, here goes AZ’s take on Luda & Jeezy’s classic instrumental “Grew Up A Screw Up.”
  • Started
Although the name MoSS may not ring any bells by itself, you've probably come across his production-- Ghostface Killah's "Kilos," Raekwon's "Have Mercy" and Obie Trice's full album Special Reserve, to name a few. The producer is stepping into the spotlight for the first time, with an upcoming full length album for his instrumentals and a few rap friends paired with them. To kick things off, we get "Started" featuring AZ, DJ Premier and Joe Budden, which is probably a hip-hop purist's wet dream.
  • Vintage
Producer Rodney Hazard is prepping his debut album, Victim Volunteer, and for the album's first release he calls upon a New York legend, AZ. The producer cooked up the perfect beat for AZ to wax poetics over, and as AZ says, that was the point. "When I got the beat from Rodney, it was called "Paint", so when I listened to it, it got me in that zone where I just had to paint poetry with my lyrics. When the record was completed, I was like damn this feels like it will be around forever, I need to call it 'Vintage'."
  • Blood On The Streets
    Blood On The Streets
After linking up last week for "Double Cross," New York City stalwarts Ghostface Killah and AZ return for "Blood On The Streets," another track from Ghost's upcoming album 36 Seasons, dropping on December 9th.
  • Double Cross
    Double Cross
Ghostface Killah has always been one of the most adept storytellers in hip-hop, but lately, he's been stepping his game up in that arena. After basing last year's 12 Reasons To Die off of a comic book of the same name and regaling us with tales of a 1960s crime ring in Italy, Tony Stark seems to be going with a less focused, but no less detail-oriented approach for his new album. Entitled 36 Seasons, the project will arrive on December 9th. Today, Ghost delivers a new one with AZ entitled "Double Cross."
  • Battlefield
Ghostface Killah continues to roll out his upcoming concept album 36 Seasons as we approach December 9th. At the end of last week we got a little album sampler for the project, and now we get the full cut for "Battlefield," featuring fellow OGs Kool G Rap, AZ and Tre Williams.
  • The Season (Remix)
    The Season (Remix)
J Dilla's "Gobstopper" beat has been sitting around for years, with a few enterprising individuals dropping bars over it in years past, but now that Nas copped the instrumental for his new track "The Season," you can bet that he'll inspire new takes on the 2006 track. Fittingly enough, it's AZ, Nas' old collaborator, who steps up to remix it first.
  • DJ Doo Wop Freestyle
    DJ Doo Wop Freestyle
AZ once again connects with DJ Doo Wop for a short but sweet freestyle today, free download. The two last connected on AZ's "Echo Park" back in February, and since then the NYC native delivered "Red Magic."
  • MARS (Dream Team)
    MARS (Dream Team)
Cormega has a brand new album dropping tomorrow, and to get the hype cycle started, he's assembled a supergroup of seasoned rappers. "MARS" is both the title of the track, and the initials of those involved (Mega, AZ, Redman, and Styles P). While that lineup is impressive enough, it should really include the legendary producer, Large Professor, who provided the beat for the song, as well as the rest of the impending album.
  • Red Magic
    Red Magic
NYC old head AZ has been quiet since dropping his track "Echo Park" with DJ Doo Wop back in February, but he's got an album in the works now. Doe Or Die 2 is coming soon, but for now AZ has left us with "Red Magic," a taste of the project.
  • Life's A Bitch (Arsenal Remix)
    Life's A Bitch (Arsenal Remix)
Illmatic celebrates its 20th birthday on April 15th, and the date will be celebrated with the release of Illmatic XX, a remastered edition of the record, complete with b-sides, remixes and rarities. We've already heard a few remixes of the iconic tracks from the seminal debut, and the most recent one is an arsenal remix of "Life's A Bitch".
  • Echo Park
    Echo Park
Two old school hip-hop legends connect on this record "Echo Park." DJ Doo Wop, a native to Bronx, NY (although he was born in Los Angeles, he moved to New York at the age of two), is responsible for kick-starting many different rapper careers in the last twenty years through mixtapes, concerts, house parties etc. Now Doo Wop is working on a new project, currently untitled, and before we get anything off that he's linked up with a fellow New Yorker, AZ, to lay down some breaks, including stuff from the Jackson 5 and more, for a new freestyle.
