50 Cent has taken a few opportunities to send shade Diddy's way over the last year, most recently calling him a "sucker" in a GQ interview. 50 Cent Just Sold A TV Show To Comedy Central
"Go 'head and switch the style up/And if they hate, then let 'em hate and watch the money pile up" is quickly becoming less of a lyric from 50 Cent's "In Da Club" and more of a mantra that the entrepreneur lives his life by. If you take "style" to mean "profession," Fif's switched it up a lot, going from rapping to acting to advertising to, most recently, executive producing the Starz show "Power." It seems like he's taken a liking to the TV production life, as he just announced that he sold a show to Comedy Central.

Yes, mixtape. Around the 17:40 mark, Fif reveals that the G-Unit album is due out late November/early December and they are also working on a new mixtape which we assume will come out before that.
Charts Don’t Lie: June 22
This week we saw quite a few albums get pushed down thanks to new entries on the Billboard 200 that weren't strictly hip-hop. Jack White's Lazaretto took over the #1 spot, and various other albums, including a country record and "The Fault In Our Stars" movie soundtrack, rounded out the top 5. We won't spend too much time discussing those LPs as you likely have no interest in knowing where Miranda Lambert landed this week, however the hip-hop and r'n'b chart action was rather unexciting this week as well.

50 Cent entered the Billboard 200 this week, with Animal Ambition moving more than the projected amount, although it's still not the numbers Fif used to do. It's independent numbers though, with a showing of 47,000 units. It will likely be quiet on the charts until we approach June 24th, when we've got multiple albums, including ones from Ab-Soul and Riff Raff, dropping. Until then, we'll have to just keep track on how Fif and friends are doing.

Samples Of The Week: June 5
When hip-hop began, samples were all that DJs and producers had to construct instrumental tracks with. They'd dig through crates of vinyl trying to find isolated drum breaks, melodies or vocals that they could repurpose for use in hip-hop music. Today, sampling has become less common, but a choice sample can still push a track from lukewarm to hot faster than you can say "uh-huh honey".

Review: 50 Cent's "Animal Ambition"
On Animal Ambition, 50 Cent returns to the old street-ready sound that made him a household name back in 2003. Unfortunately, a lot has changed in hip-hop since 50’s debut. With the rise of Kanye West (or more particularly 808s & Heartbreak), the genre has become more emotive—more artistically diverse and interesting. Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Kid CuDi and even Future to an extent have thrived off mixing street-singles with genuine tales of personal and romantic hardship.
