50 Cent is being sued for illegally using a sample three years ago, but apparently the guy suing him doesn't even own the track.
Back in April, 50 Cent got sued for a song sampled in a track he released three years ago for free online. A man named Robert Poindexter claimed that Fiddy sampled his tune "Love Gonna Pack Up and Walk Out" on his track "Redrum."
As it turns out, TMZ reports that 50's most recently filed court documents claim that he never violated any copyright laws, because Poindexter doesn't even own the rights to song himself - he apparently signed them over to Warner Music Group long ago, and therefore, has no right to take 50 to court. The rapper is asking the judge to dismiss the case. No ruling yet.
