When Young Thug's Barter 6 came out, there was a bunch of beats produced by a dude named Wheezy. One couldn't help but to wonder if it was a part of the Lil Wayne worship that gave the album its name, or if it was more clever trolling in a burgeoning beef, or just a total coincidence. We're at least pretty sure that it was the latter.

Wheezy, or Wheezybeat$ if you're on his Soundcloud, is a producer from Atlanta, Georgia. Like so many of the other producers from the hottest city in rap, Wheezy has made himself a household name through 2015 by supplying fire beats for a crop of new artists. He's worked with the likes of Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, Wiz Khalifa, Rich Homie Quan, and T.I. Today we highlight the essential productions from his young career.

Young Thug featuring Birdman - "Constantly Hating"

10 Essential Wheezy Productions

The introduction track to Barter 6 set the pace for one of Young Thug's most interesting projects to date. The beat is minimal as it gets, stripping down the Atlanta formula to sparse bass and drums. Thugger and Birdman make it one of their best tracks of the year.

Young Thug featuring Young Dolph - "Never Had It"

10 Essential Wheezy Productions

If the Philharmonic Orchestra made trap beats, there's a chance it might sound something like the instrumental of "Never Had It." Young Thug spits some of his most audible bars over Wheezy's sophisticated backdrop.

Young Thug - "Halftime"

10 Essential Wheezy Productions

"Halftime" has an entrancing beat that falls in line with Wheezy's minimal style that made Barter 6 sound so fresh. Without a feature, it's also an opportunity for Thugger to handle a track from start to finish.

Young Thug featuring Birdman - "Knocked Off"

10 Essential Wheezy Productions

While both rappers on this track have received criticism for their technique, they brought their A-game to the table on "Knocked Off." Wheezy and Ricky Racks collaborated for this wonky beat, and the Rich Gang rappers blessed it proper.

"I'm not gon' pass, I'ma smash 'em
She want that nut so I blast her
My Bentley grey like a pastor
Whippin' that snow, no Alaska
Good head, she got her masters
Shawty a long way from dumb
Your money flat like a plasma
Good kush, smoke is the bomb"

Young Thug - "Just Might Be"

10 Essential Wheezy Productions

Music this tasteful and melodic is not usually what you expect from Young Thug's music. For better or for worse, it is the style that he ran with for Barter 6, one of his most talked about releases of 2015. Thanks to Wheezy's beats, it was a stand-out effort.

Lil Uzi Vert featuring Wiz Khalifa - "9 Queso" (Produced By Tm88 & Wheezy)

10 Essential Wheezy Productions

TM88 and Wheezy together is one hell of a production duo, just as Lil Uzi Vert and Wiz Khalifa is quite the combo to see on a track. With a little bit of each artist's magic, "9 Queso" is a worthwhile listen in each artist's catalogue.

Shad featuring TIP - Gold BBS's

10 Essential Wheezy Productions

Shad and T.I.'s alter-ego connect on "Gold BBS's," which features Wheezy's aquatic production. The beat moves like liquid to fill up each nook and cranny not hit by the two rappers, and the result is a captivating work.

Rich Homie Quan - Milk Marie

10 Essential Wheezy Productions

Rich Homie Quan and Wheezy together is a lethal duo. Much like how his work on Barter 6 was perfect for Thugger, the beat for "Milk Marie" is the perfect, unassuming backdrop for a Quan love ballad.

T.I., Young Thug & Shad - Bank Rolls

10 Essential Wheezy Productions

Ain't nothin' like a certified winner, the game's most eccentric artist, and an up-and-comer getting together for an Atlanta-lovin' posse cut. "Bank Rolls" features our subject's minimal production and some nice chemistry from the rappers on the track.

Kid Ink - "No Pretending"

10 Essential Wheezy Productions

Kid Ink is the latest artist to enlist Wheezy for his beat-making expertise. "No Pretending" is a piano-driven rap track that allows Kid Ink to boast about his hustle. It's easy listening in a scene that usually uses 'harder' beats to get their points across.
